looking for a recommendation on Vae Victus mods. Unlike EU3 and Vicky2, there doesn't seem to be any clear favorites, at least from my cursory glances around the mod forums. Was wondering if you guys can give me some suggestions....thanks.
Well exactly is Epigoni Mod to the Hindu Kush v2.01b? I got this game recently and was thinking of getting this mod but I don't know if this is the actual Epigoni mod
I have separate installs for Epigoni and Reign of the Ancients.
I use those because the game mechanics are still recognizeable (it's not a huge overhaul) with some extra stuff added. Easier to learn without reading up on 'em.
Well it has its difficulties but it is quite simple after all. My modding guide can help for the beginning, also checking Descartes' guides in the mod forum -> Imperium sub-forum is good idea, they're the ones I use.Is modding difficult to do? I want to learn. How do I get started?
RotA has done a lot to fix loads of things, f.ex. stopping the senate veering too quickly in favor of one faction or another, at the cost of scrapping most of the granting title system, but giving tyranny a greater impact. But there are problems in this mod, like very few few realms going to war with one another - which I guess is sort of a fix for the cascading alliances.
Why don't you use the mod folder? Steam or Mac stuff or whatever similar?
It's a bit tricky to start with, but once you understand the basic structure of the text files you can catch on pretty quickly. The best thing to do would be to look at existing events etc and figure out how they work and go on from there. If you have any specific questions, just ask in the modding subforumIs modding difficult to do? I want to learn. How do I get started?
Thankyou for all the votes. Also thanks to the other modders for pushing this game to its limits: gnosticdogma, Descartes, Camara, Wiz, Cheexsta and Lofman (also vanin, the RIMP team and the other early modders).
If you have ever read Livy's history about the early days of Rome the city, you will know it had a rocky and unimpressive start. In a way this game was the same. Lets hope it has a bright future just like the city of Rome did.
The main problem I found with Reign of the Ancients is that later in the game the cascading alliances causes you to be at war with everybody.
The main problem I found with Magna Terra is that later in the game it would simply crash so I felt like I had wasted so many hours trying to install the thing in the first place, and then so many hours playing the game only to find that the game would crash just at the point when it was starting to get really interesting.
So in sum, I think that the original game is the one that was most rewarding for me.
The problems with the Mods is they take days and days of fiddling with your installation directories just to get the things to work, sometimes you need to do a full re-isntall of Rome and then do the fiddling with your directories to get them to work.
You do realize that the "Cascading Alliances" issue is a hard-coded problem with the vanilla game, don't you? It's not caused any mods.
