I have no arguments that if Britian had control of the northern atlantic world, the continental system would have collapsed , in fact, it probably would never have been enacted.
Our involvment in the american revolution, however, was no where near a major war as the one you suggest, it did cost, but not near as much as an invasion of our rightful lands of Louisiana would. I also doubt that given France's economic state, that the banks would have loaned France much money for a war (one of the major reasons France pulled out of the Seven Years' War was that King Louis XIV could not raise more money). The point of all this being that, even without an american revolution, France could never have fought a major war before the Revolution broke out at the very least, the revolution would have emerged soon after Louis the XVI declared war and probably with a much greater ferocity (it that is possible lol) than it did in the face of the King's flagrant disregard for the state of the nation.
