On the whole cost thing, it's important to keep in mind these are incredibly complex games with more gameplay systems than you can poke a stick at. There'll never be agreement on what is 'essential' in the base game and what better suits fleshing out through DLC. It may be that espionage, like logistics, was too difficult to get how they wanted it the first time around (not saying this is the case for supply, but some of us suspect it) so it was left barebones (there is some espionage in the game through diplomacy, but it's pretty limited, think EU4-level espionage plus benefits of encryption and decryption) with room to expand later. At the end of the day, if the game delivers good gameplay and content at a reasonable price, then it's unfair to say 'it should have been there' - PDS have finite limits on their capacity.
This, for the main, although there's no shame in speculating
. My 2 cents, noting it's fairly uninformed (ie, I haven't played the game):
- Stuff focussing on the minor nations, eg; the Balkans, Commonwealth Dominions, Chinese Cliques.
- Something deepening logistics (not saying it's necessary, but clearly it's something more than a few of us would appreciate).
- Something adding depth to naval or air operations/structure (because if you look at the relative detail of unit structure and operations, land units get a lot more of it compared with naval and air), but within the gameplay mechanics we've already seen (so maybe have support elements to air wings, pilot and navy training, things like that).
While I hope we get some kind of 'Armageddon' (HoI2 expansion reference) style DLC at some stage, I think that'd be better after they've done more DLC adding depth to various gameplay systems, but I've never had to manage DLC development and marketing, so I don't know my port from my starboard when it comes to this kind of thing
.
Maybe best to have played the game first before suggesting DLCs.
