Hello all.

I have a simple (yet potentially much more complex) question for you.

Assuming you play CK, and plan to convert to EU2, and you're doing so well in your game that you'll be in a position to be King several time, what Kingdom would you choose as first Kingdom ? Especially knowing that the first Kingdom you get determines what your country will be in EU2 ?

Things that should matter in your answer are historical events, leaders, monarchs, but you may also have other reasons. Please explain your choice, unless someone has already given your reasons.
Starting provinces and cores are not really an important point, as you get the provinces you gained in your CK game.

Hopefully, this will be made into a Poll (at least, if all goes well :) ).

PS : only the most important countries of EU2 are depicted, not all possibilities, hence the point of the "Other" choice. ;)

Does anyone know if Byzantium is automatically put in the orthodox tech group upon conversion, or is it tied to the amount of techs you have discovered?

As HRE is missing from the list I chose Byzantium. Why these? Because they are the followers of Rome.

Transoxina! Hooray for cross and sword CoA! :p

Seriously. A nice eastern obscure orthodox nation. The only other thing I'd go for would be Georgia.

If you're going for maximum benefit, there are only two choices - Castile or Aragon. Those allow you to become Spain, which gives you free CBs on every pagan and Muslim in the game. That's all you need to know.

Yes, England and France have better leader files, but we're talking single player, and a hyperpower in single player at that. Being able to build up at a low badboy cost is far more important than the leader file or the events.

France. Aside from England, it's the easiest of the colonial powers to play in CK. And if you can prevent the formation of Portugal, England and Spain (by having them yourself, possibly) you could have colonization with virtually no rivals, at least for a long time...

Besides, can you imagine the economic/military strength of a combined Portugal/Spain/France/England homeland?

Portugal, for the simple reason that I love the exploration part of EU the best, and you get the explorers first with Portugal (China not an option obviously with CK).

Plus, Portugal really has the advantage of not ending up in too many wars, unless it wants to. :)

Byzantinum of course, they would have had really great potential if they had not been swallowed by all those slavs and turks.
