Me too, if inheriting 3 big countries isn't the best and I don't know what is?

Yeah, have to agree with Orlanth. While Austrian event are good, you just get those lands for free :(

Then there is russia, sure they get TONS of shields, and most are not that hard to conquer, but it ain`t for free..not to mention decades of nationalism to beat down.

But the way england (as ai) is beaten silly by events. You may have to see brittish isles turn RED-WHITE-BLUE to belive.

France got same problem with inheritance, but a lot less. Several nice stories too :). Never quite understood nappy, tho. Great stats but he`s just one guy, right?

My vote goes to Mother Russia
(cultures fixed to: Mongol, Lithuanian, Ugric, Ruthenian & Russian, +greek added later on:D)

I also have to give Austria the best events for the major-majors.
Ottomans and Russian events look pretty interesting and varied(haven't yet played them.)

Like Portugal and Swedish events for minor-majors.

Borrowing this quote from Constantine XI's signature block, but it seems to describe what Napoleon does to the rest of Europe -

If an advisor says to me "My liege, he is but one man. What can one man possibly do?", I will reply "This." and kill the advisor.:D

Napoleon has to be seen to be believed. To answer King - Napoleon is my kind of capitalist - the kind who dictates peace from someone else's capitol!!!

LOL:D

Napoleon is, in my opinion, the greatest man in the history of the world. not neccesarily the nicest guy, but certainly the most facinating.

I love the British events ('specially if I'm playing as Eire ;) ); early in the game - if the French and Scotts manage to hurt them, the War of the Roses revolts just about finish them off - one game I even managed to Turbo-annex them  in the late 1400's, and then took Anglia 5 years and a couple of months later...

'Tis a shame that my BB went up so high afterwards, though, and the reformation really hurt [5 provinces semi-constantly in revolt until the Inquisition finally succeeded]...

On the other hand, Eire's events are about as interesting as Irish cooking :p

I think France had the most interesting events. England has some nasty "battle" events. Russia is just plain screwed.

Timurids!

Well, OK. It is hard to qualify them as the best, from a sane point of view, but consider an event set where even the 'good' scripted events have really bad consequences (stab loss+revolts), and the 'bad' scripted events are worse. It is certainly interesting and makes for tough choices.

Much like Poland and those Convention/Sjem events they get. Got the first one of them in 1450-something and sat there for a good 10-minutes trying to figure out what was the "good" option. No wonder Poland (and the Timurids) ended up part of somebody else's country.

I love those Timurid events! Nothing beats +8 revolt risk for 40-something years, the automatic disbanding of most your army and sending your stability to the bottom of the lake!:D
Heck, the Timurids are just fun to play! Fight down those revolts, managing to turn the tide on the Ottomans as your war exhaution creeps ever upwards, then getting DoWed by the Mamlukes. You haven't War Mongered until you've done it as the Timurids!:D

Right! I sat staring at my screen for six or seven minutes when I got the Disintegration of the Timurid Empire the first time.
A) Revoltrisk +8 for 588 months, stab -8, 6 revolts, 25000 desertion, -400 relations to three neighbours... And 600 VP
or
B) Revolrisk +5 for 12 months, stab -6, -400 relations to three neighbours... And -2100 ducats.

Interesting choice. 49 years of revolts and massive revolts right now, or a year of revolts and bankruptcy - which will make the revolts harder to fight, and add massively to your inflation.

I am currently warmonger (scientifically) with Timurid Scientists and it is great fun :)

Hey, I haven't played Austria before. What countries do they inherit and when?

I played Austria and I'm 1600. I inherited Hungary, got Bohemia as a vassal at the same time. Didn't get any other country.

Also the chance to get Burgundy, Milan, Lorraine and such.

... And of course, NOBODY told me that. I conquered all of them...

Austrian Arch-Duke (random Habsburg): "Well, I finally conquered Burgundy, Milan and Lorraine. Now my empire is really wonderful".
Messenger: "Message for you sir"
Arch-Duke: "... What, I inherited... Lorraine, Milan and Burgundy?!?..."
Messenger: "Yes, sire, it came in late, it got lost in the mailroom".
Bazooka: "And knowing is half the battle YO JOE!"

I've always been very fond of France and England, but after my last game with Russia, I must say that there are a lot of interesting Russian events. I haven't gotten into the 17th century yet, but I'm looking forward to it, so far Russia is very interesting. However if you look for a challenge and some tough events that really shakes your realm, England is propably the better choice.
