Germany has been the easiest to learn with early on in the last two installments. A lot of room for expansion, a relatively weak neighbor in Poland to learn warfare against, good industry, large manpower pool, good tech teams (not an issue in this game, but will probably be reflected in Leadership resource).

That said, I will probably take an early turn as Australia in order to learn the ins and outs of the naval aspect. US has unlimited naval resources, but i have a place in my heart for the Aussies after a game I played last year, which was a good fight vs the IJN!

Excelent choice , in fact my first game will be with Chile, but I'm going to mod some things so Bolivia and Peru gets more agressive, that would be something nice to start, and maybe I will join the allies and send some divisions to the front :D. After that, I think that Canada, then some major (must surely the UK), and then Germany.

Yeah, in both HoI2 and Vicky I started training up in Chile - which just happens to be my country of birth :) . After I got the hang of it all I would conquer most of South America, then move on to a bigger (and harder) power. :)

Hmm probably Japan - I want to test the new logistics model and command structure in widely disparate framework. Managing/defending all those little islands, while fighting a major war in China AND ensuring my inward flow of resources AND maintaining a world class navy AND providing for air defense AND dealing with an unstable political climate should be a great introduction to all that's new.

I'll just mod whatever typically horrid yellow is chosen as the default colour for Japan into something less nauseating, and be on my way.

Until recently I would have said Germany, but there's not quite as many dimensions involved in playing the 'Field Gray Blob' ( mostly contiguous territory, little need for a navy, relatively stable political climate, etc).

Probably Brazil or Chile for the relative lack of warfare to learn the non-war-related aspects, then Canada or Australia, since they're relatively simple, but get involved in WWII from the beginning.

:rofl::rofl:

Alas, Union Jack is not a man. :D

Britannia, of course - or John Bull if you fancied a boxing match against Uncle Sam (Queensbury rules, of course).

@Airborne - like the idea of playing as Poland and trying to join the Axis early on. I hope HoI3 is dynamic enough to let you do so without having to cheat ('acceptall', wasn't it?). Giving them Danzig and maybe a few cores ought to let you in with a chance of joining, realistically.

I shall go with Blighty of course, see how the Empire works in #3, and of course drag the Royal Navy onto land and smash the Nazi juggernaut somewhere in the Ardennes or Poland.

I'd certainly love to play France after that. I hope they give them a realistic number of divisions (France had a larger army than Germany until '40 IIRC) and that I am able to raise National Unity and reverse the downward trend of French morale.

Huzzah!

Can't wait - here's to a great game (WITH EGYPT :eek:o:eek:o:eek:o)

I'll likely do what I did with HoI2. Try Spain first to familiarize myself with the ground war system on a relatively small scale.

Germany, as always.

I'm highly fancying the idea of actually having the tilt through the Ardennes ACTUALLY BE IMPLEMENTED PROPERLY, RATHER THAN JUST HITTING METZ AND TURNING INTO ALSACE-LORRAINE AND NOT ACTUALLY BEING NEAR MAGINOT EVEN THOUGH HALF THAT PROVINCE ISNT REALLY METZ...

Sorry, sorry, HoI2 rage. I'm still on pills for this thing...just lose it sometimes.

Germany, of course

In HoI2 I tried allies only once, but it was no fun for me. I really didn't like the democracy thing not letting me do what I wanted, lol. :D

Later on I'm gonna play as a minor country such as Siam or something, join the party that is my enemy's enemy and try to get around while the majors are occupied in Europe.
