Hi

I would like to run four or five games in tandem and I would like them to be as unique experience as possible. What fun country/starts should I pick to do this?
I guess I would like to start using one of the 'interesting' starts.

Thanks!

FYI
I would rate myself as beginner / experienced player

Conquest of Paradise: Portugal, so you get to find the ugly randomness faster.
Res Publica: Venice or the Netherlands (for the Dutch you'd have to pick a start date where they exist, or form them as Burgundy) Actually the Netherlands are a perfect nation for game where you test both Wealth of Nations and Res Publica stuff.
Art of War: many things that makes war go smoother. Maybe France or Ottomans are good picks, early wars so you get to use the new mechanics early on.

So:

I am disgracefully ignorant about Indian states :( I might just pick a random one!
Sound good?

Vijiyanagar is a pretty easy one, that follows Hinduism, and has unique Historical Events. They're built to be a land power, but can dominate trade and the oceans too.

Conquest of Paradise: Any European colonizer, or a North American Native.
Wealth of Nations: Venice, Genoa, or the Hansa
Res Publica: The Netherlands or Poland

Good suggestions. In the CoP run, Portugal is a decent choice that gives you the chance to focus just on colonizing if you want, but any of the others will also work fine. Genoa is probably the most difficult of the WoN options, and although I haven't looked at how it plays in 1.8 I might not recommend it for a beginner. It's not super hard or anything, but you can easily botch it.

Art of War: Basically anyone...but I'd say give India a shot, any state.

Then you lose out on the religious leagues, though. Not sure who I'd recommend.

I'd recommend the Teutonic Order. You'll see if Brandenburg and Poland do better now, being Lucky Nations. You're in a prime position for being a Protestant/Reformed center and will get to experience autonomy less restrictive than in other regions. Which might be a good idea for a start.

Well of course you could play Brandenburg. But who does that anyway?

Yeah, this. If you do nothing, France will eventually attack you. You can stave it off for a while by staying on their good side, but eventually they will probably get a mission to conquer you. At that point you need either a very strong alliance or to be ready to lose the war (e.g. move elsewhere).

Of course, your provinces are also disconnected and you can get attacked in Crimea as well.

Genoa is one of the safest nations in the game, if you convert to islam (annex Granada and let religious rebels revolt). France won't get a mission and you'll be best of friends with them forever, while being in the HRE makes the Emperor also your defender by default, so anyone thinking of attacking you will weigh up themselves against the forces of France, Austria, and yourself combined, then decide against suicide.

Dunno if the religious switching trick works with AoW though, haven't tried.

Or you could simply take Cremona, which effectively prevents France from taking Genoa, since they can only take an isolated capital in a peace deal.

Of course, your provinces are also disconnected and you can get attacked in Crimea as well.

An advantage for Genoa in 1.8 is that Crimea doesn't ally with the Ottomans right away. If you attack them as fast as you can fabricate a claim, with Lithuania's help you can vassalize them before the Ottomans will get involved.

In the current patch they have made the Hre unplayable for me. The call in allies in war is truly frustrating. There allies need to be be sued for peace before annexing, and the general game of avoiding the emperor is a mess. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't need to get military access during wars, but as it is now allies are not always getting military access.
