France looks the most interesting to me. After I have a few games under my belt, I will definitely go Red France!
Interesting scenario, out of interest is the USN strong enough to hold off the RN and blockade Canada?USA
Reason: War Plan Red
I'm gonna have so much fun with this.... I'll be replaying that same war again and again and again! I'm still going through scans of the historical documents, preparing my cheat sheet of how it would have historically gone so that I can replicate it in the game!
Here's my current progress on the cheat sheet:
That's what the real life War Plan Red dictates, and the war plan was essentially written from the perspective of the US being weaker than the British Empire, so one would assume yes.Interesting scenario, out of interest is the USN strong enough to hold off the RN and blockade Canada?
In the case of a US aggressor I would be looking to get Japanese and Mexican help (both have incentives to join) to surround you on all sides. That's what the real life War Plan Red dictates, and the war plan was essentially written from the perspective of the US being weaker than the British Empire, so one would assume yes.
Realistically, if we weren't strong enough at the start of the war, we certainly would be by the end of it!

You would be if the UK Pearl Harboured you - but IRL the US as an aggressor would have lot harder time mobilising as much as it did and raising bonds/taxes and the like, and if the UK could tie down US forces in Canada with a guerilla-style campaign and got the war to drag on, then it may have found itself in a more complicated situation. Doubt HoI will model this though, so you should be fine in-game.
It'd be pretty hilarious of a pacifist Germany leads to a sharp increase in the probability of the US and the UK going to war, to make "peace in our time" virtually impossible.I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can get with a pacifist Germany run... See if there really can be peace in our time (with the western allies at least).
Indeed, one possibility for the world alliances goes thusly:I think Italy could be an interesting back up option in War Plan Red if the US can't get Germany involved. They can harass the UK in the Mediterranean while the US fleet occupies the British main fleets.
Meanwhile I assume Germany has gone and taken Poland and France... Russia just hanging around going 'wtf man'
The end result, under these circumstances, would be a British empire that's so sliced and diced, and with so little in the way of safe trade routes, that it simply wouldn't be able to survive on its own. The fact that Nazi Germany expressed interest in fighting alongside Britain against the United States, however, makes all of this significantly more interesting!
That would make an awesome challange playing as GB against the artificial idiotIndeed, one possibility for the world alliances goes thusly:
Japan versus Britain in the Pacific
US versus Britain in the Atlantic and North America
Germany, Italy, or perhaps even France combined with the Little Entente versus Britain in the Mediterranean and/or the British Isles
