While I understand the appeal of unification to "Form X" country, right now I'm more interested in fragmenting big countries. Whereas there are tons of little states you can release from France, Austria, there aren't any that I can release from Castille. I mean, where's Leon? Spain was made from the unification of Castille, Leon, Aragon, and Navarre. Sure, Leon's been absorbed by 1399, but so had Guyenne in France. Doesn't mean they lose their claim, right?

Lots of mods add Leon, but it should be in Vanilla imo.

ya i have a big problem with Castille and Scandinavia right now. I feel like they get big but don't fully destroy another nation thus when they randomly go to war with you every five years there is nothing to do but take provinces and the infamy hit with them that you don't want. If Leon was added Castille would be fixed and maybe for Scandinavia add Lappland and something else. I know thats a pull but something that could be used to make them a little more breakable.

I don't think they implemented it into the Vanilla game because the lands were inherited, not taken over, by Castille, and therefore makes Léon- wait...

Yeah, never mind me. I'm talking gibberish. Léon should have cores in the vanilla game for multiple reasons.

In the other direction, some of the countries flaking off England are not very realistic given how long England proper had been politically unified by 1399 (not counting Wales and Plantagenet possessions in Ireland), and how few attempts were made historically to carve out independent states after the Norman conquest. Certainly there were civil wars, but they were fought for control of England as a whole, so more like 'pretender' revolts than 'nationalist' revolts. So Northumbria is implausible as a revolter. Cornwall is suspect as well - there certainly was a separate Cornish culture and language, but not over a large enough area to merit a whole EU3 province. In the area marked 'Cornwall' on the EU3 map, there certainly was not a majority Celtic population in 1399, and had not been for several centuries. (The modern border of Cornwall was essentially fixed in the 10th century, and if you look on a map, you see that Cornwall covers only a small part of the West Country pensinsula.)

I don't really care though - there are much bigger fish to fry when it comes to EU3 and historical realism.
