that doesn't explain anything. It goes beta 7...beta 9...a new one was pulled not an old one...

maybe it was the MP though..

Beta7 was the 24Player patch

Beta8 was on for a very short while - I just managed to download it - then apparently Johan made some last minute bandwidth optimizations and put the optimized code up as beta 9.

Because they already had released 8, so they could hardly name the next one 8 aswell. If they had named both eigth it could have bothered people who had already downloaded the first 8.
