I agree with Dark. I want this game to come out and would rather find out for myself sooner. Let Johan work his magic.

1.) Johan already mentioned that there will be Heavy tank brigades as attachements, the old ones are kept... what more will be there is to be seen (may be subject to change due to the balancing progress, so it makes no sense to post a full list)...

hmmm i thought the game was further along than it is. I know balancing can be one of the most challenging aspects of the beta process, and if the attachments are still up for changing they must still have quite a ways to go :(. IMHO sounds like we may not have a christmas release :(. YOU BETAS QUIT POSTING AND GET BACK TO THE GALLEYS, and thanks for the hard work :)

There's another question coming in my mind:

How does cooperative modus work ?

For example 2 players, Germany, one will play land units and the production, the other naval units , air units and tech developement.

Is this a "house rule" which has to be made between them (because every player can play everything) or are there any setting options to create the responsibility (which can be changed) ??

2.) iirc, Johan also already mentioned that brigades will be attacheable and detachable....

Hmmm...missed those...but then again, I haven't been here that much of late. Does 1) mean you can't build a division out of heavy tanks only? That'd be a good thing in my book. As for 2) and in general, can one attach tank brigades to infantry units? How about other kind of brigades such as STUG's for the Germans?

Being a Beta in HOI2

No, I'm not going to break the NDA and tell you anything about the game!

So, I'll tell you just a little about being a beta for this game.

I've beta'd previously and been involved in game design for both strategy and role-playing games. The one big difference I spot immediately on this team is that the pace of improvement is amazingly fast! None of the other games I've worked on have progressed anywhere near this quickly.

Johan and the team get an A+ in my book simply for keeping everything organized and moving along as efficiently as they do!

Someone a few posts back asked about pulling Johan away for 5 minutes to post here. Well, I can tell you without hesitating that in 5 minutes Johan has fixed bugs. So, what do you want more, a post from him, or another bug squashed?

This will be my only comment on the subject, so enjoy!

Well with the speed at Johan fixes some things you'd be surprised how many bugs are not being fixed in the Q&A time. Also, I don't know if it's up to Johan or someone higher up in the company what details get released. If it's not up to him he'd have to spend a bit of time checking what's ok to show/pressing to be allowed to show some some cool feature etc. That would still apply even if he got a beta to do the write up.

Okay, here`s how I see it:

1.It is quite pointless for a person to make a post just about anything (Example: Why make a post about the map, as it is unchangeable, why make a post about research when one can not understand the basics of the new system, why make a post about possible problems in the M=A system when it is most propably fixed)...

And I am not saying that it is pointless because it will take away my "precious energy", but because the only discussion that is going to rise is: "I agree", "Good idea"...

Of course people should discuss and if I am stroke by a lightning and god(s) appear(s) before me and tell(s) me a great idea about diplomacy in WWII games, then yeah, I am propably going to put it here and see what people think....

And yeah there are folks who come here ask a question and get linked to thread older than the turtles of the pacific combined.


However:

2.Betas can not comment the game much, neither can developers (Anyone ever heard about publishing frenzy, angry people pre-ordering and then the game getting delayed.... Halo anyone? ;) )

Ok , take it easy, it was only an suggestion to get the forum going and at the same time get some info on the game. I dont know the beta drill or bugg squashing , it was just an idea.

Well, someone did, although it's obviously clear as day you had no part in it. It was considered impertinent of us lowly Gammas to ask moderators questions about HoI 2, or something to that effect. Don't care to look it up now and after all it serves no purpose.

Now, as you set the rules, would you mind trying to offer a reply to the question?

It's kind of important. Many of us feel that way.

Judging from how it went with previous games, I'd say the forum will be slightly dead until the first Beta AARs are posted here, which would probably be about a month before the actual release, I suppose.
