<- Here! Played the tabletop in the late 80's / early 90's and also Succession Wars. Some Mechwarrior RPG as well. Lost interest with Clan related stuff overwhelming the scene.
Call Sign: No recollection what so ever
1st Mech - Warhammer, if I recall correctly
Most used: Urbie
Favourite mech? The Urbie, of course!

LOL I feel you, although we (my old gaming buddies) invented our own "Clan" story line as soon as the Star League sourcebook came out. I wrote up an entire campaign as GM revolving around finding the remnants of I believe it was the 295th Royal Battlemech Division in a uncharted star system. If I remember correctly they were one of the units that "misjumped" and disappeared sometime during the Reunification war. In that campaign we were running from the Draconis Combine after refusing to fight to the last man and die honorably. Stumbled across a Texas Class Battleship with ruined jump drive. Found the planet side settlement where the survivors landed and there was over a company of Star League era mechs there. This lead to checking the ships navigation charts and setting out to the Exodus road. Of course in my campaign The General knew where he was going already and we were able to find him. Damn that is what I miss most about tabletop gaming, you had to have an active imagination to do it, you had to come up with your own ideas using the sourcebooks as a guideline not as holy writ.

Over 50 here and while I never played TT, I first played Battletech on an Amiga A500 many years ago.

The game was called MechForce, and I remember sending a postal order for $5 or $10 to a guy called Ralph Reed in the US.

Played that game to death (and became Solaris champion :) ) then read all the books I could get my hands on.

First mech, if I remember right the marauder, not sure why but always liked it better than the warhammer.
Favorite mech, the scorpion, loved me some side step action. :)

I'm from 1972. Was there at the release of the original game with a bunch of buddies (we all belonged to the same Boadgame club) Played a lot in the early years, along with Warhammer tabletop (fantasy and 40k) plus a tabletop ww2 game we made our ruleset on from scratch with realistic stats (yes, nerds :) ) and cardboard pushers as well, until RL took away my time for boardgames in my mid 20's (played a few games here and there, nothing serious though). Looking forward to get re-introduced into the game again.

Call-sign: Uhmmm
First Mech: Don't remember
Most Used: Probably the Phoenix Hawk, since no one else on my team wanted to play that thing:D
Favorite Mech: Marauder

I'm 59 years old and managed a game store back when Battletech first came out. I had a virtual monopoly back then on the whole of Quebec. If Battletech does well in Eastern Canada, I will take partial credit. I pushed Battletech hard, as it was one of my favorite games. (About the only game I pushed harder was Hero System.) I played Battletech campaigns over the course of ten years, starting around 1985.

Original Callsign - Ishtar
First Mech - Custom built 20 tonner. It was kicked to death first game by another, much inferior design 20 ton mech, to much laughter.
Most Used Mech - Griffin
Favorite Mech - Heavily modified Marauder. 5/8/5 XL, double heat sinks, dual clan ERPPC, you get the picture. Had a custom miniature for it.

Pfft, you old farts! I'm a youngster compared to some of you, at a whippersnapping 48!

Started with 2nd edition boxed set back in 85-86, and have been waiting for a game like this since I first lay my grubby little mitts on Mercenary's Handbook (my favorite sourcebook by far) back in 87. Love it so much that I made a homage as my avatar on the old HBS forums:

NewMHsig3.jpg

And now it's less than two days until the game is released :)
