Where the hell is the last province?

Hello all.

I was beating the hell out of the Austrians last night and I managed to take all their provinces + couple of trading posts they managed to build in Africa.
However when I wanted to annex them , I didn't get the choice so it was clear to me that I missed a TP or colony somewhere.
I scanned the map few times and nothing!! The fact that Austria colors are white and terra incognita is also white doesn't help of course but i couldn't find the evasive bastard. (P.S it was 2.30 in the morning so this can put things in perspective...)
So what should I do? Is there any way to look in the game log or something where i can find that certain province? Is there a way to find it in the EUspy or other programs?

you dont need to occupy the Austrian TPs and colonies to annex them

You need to occupy their colonial cities pop 700+ though.

Perhaps your problem is closer to home. Did Austria take a province from Turkey in the Balkans or somewhere else?

They did, but I took all their provinces in Europe, I am pretty sure of that.

Are the Austrians at war with anybody else?

If so and if they control just one enemy province that will also prevent annexation

Are they still allied with another country, fighting you ? I once could only annex Hannover, after I made peace with their ally Denmark.

You could look in the savegame-file. There is a list of all provinces Austria has.

You can only annex a country if you are the (temporary) leader of the alliance.

maybe Austria is major in your game, therefor they are unannexable

Well, according to JOs Theelen, Austria is still allied with the Mameluks, I will try to make peace with the Maeluks and see what happens.

By the way how do I open the savegame file so i can look at the province list?

Go to
"C:\program\paradox entertainment\europa universalis\scenarios\saved games" or something like that.
There is a nice list of all your saved games.
Open them up with notepad and enjoy!

May I also suggest that when you do open the .eug file that you do a search. Search for HAB. This is Austrias tag. The file is huge , and this will bring you to Austrias info. I would hate to see a fellow EU'er fall into a crazed episode because you couldn't find "Austria"

Even easier is to search for Wien as when searching on HAB u get a lot of HABs in other nation's relations.

Found out the hard way It gets hard when ur looking for a country u don't know any city from or how it is spelled

I always have a hard time looking for Warsaw because I don't know how it is spelled in Polish. So I just look for Minsk instead.

I even looked at the basement but I only found a my last victims skeleton.... Ah the days I was roaming the land as a serial killer, those were the days....
