Some times my colonies grow rapidly but colonists in other places die off instead of growing (I'm assuming because of the climate). How can I tell whats going to make a good colony or which ones will die of rancid diseases?

It's continent IIRC. If your capital is on the same continent as the colonial city you won't get any -location in population growth, unless your capital is in Europe. The Impaler said:I believe it also depends on your own country's climate matched against that of the colony's - I didn't find any problem getting SE Asian colonies to grow when I was playing as Mataram. On the other hand, I might not have had much success in Finnmark...
