Where is the money flow?

Am I missing something or is there no money flow?

A resident who doesn't make it to work shouldn't be getting paid and shouldn't be able to pay me taxes for long.

A resident in a small house working in a low paid uneducated job shouldn't be able to afford to build a luxury villa?

It seems my residential areas sky-rocket in quality as if they had unlimited money. Provided there is industry somewhere and they are happy they'll just .. I dunno borrow from SimBank with 0% interest.

Well another person found out that if you separate the areas completely from one another the residential and industry will still be happy even if the workers never ever make it to work. So SimBank is doing a wonderful job of keeping the money flowing...behind the scenes.
