Oh Chaos Gods, I'm throwing sacrifies at the screen but nothing's happening.
The upgunned '41 KV-1(B) would fit I guess. The KV-1S was kinda dumb and didnt really fill the role of heavy tank because of low armor.
The reason I put the KV-2 there is that its time-wise more appropriate model and that the turret looks really cool. The turret makes it look distinct as well which is important, because most of the other russian tanks have very similar silhouettes and its not always easy to tell them apart.

Doing games for Games Workshop is not that hard these days, everyone is doing it, so my guess is that GW will take any chances to get money from their licenses, wether it's an iphone game, a weird top-down shooter, a crappy 3D version of one of their board games, or an awesome looking version of the same boardgame in unreal engine 4.
However i do believe that it doesn't fit with PDS policy (that is to say, PDS wants to have full creative control over their products, and therefore only use their own IP)
I thought the tanks models in the research screen were based on tank chassis not tanks. Why not call the chassis KV, and have the KV2 be the self-propelled arty model and the KV1 as the heavy tank model? Will that make everyone happy? and then you could have all the variants of the KV's as you up-gun them or convert to production to the IS series. Just my 2 cents(I know none of this really matters because its just text in the research screen, but anyway it got me worked up somehow)

IMO, you can just put a KV-1 there. The upgunned '41 KV-1(B) would fit I guess. The KV-1S was kinda dumb and didnt really fill the role of heavy tank because of low armor.

Armor-wise it is fairly comparable to Tiger, and the gun could be assumed upgraded.
KV-1 had versions with 85-mm gun, comparable to Tiger`s 88, so there is no problem there. Yes, it was build in 1943, but
Pz4 that is supposed to be avialable in 1938 is 1941 tech in game, so I really don`t see a problem having 1943 build tank be a 1941 tech.
If anything, the problem is your way too wide gap between heavy tanks.
Of cource I can.I don't think you can compare the 85mm and 88mm gun performance wise.
And yet, there is a flavor name. Having it as close to real thing is nececery, otherwise, why have the feature at all? When you look at the model names for the HoI games, you need to see through the flavour name and just read it is a generic heavy tank model 1941.
I know your mod better than you might thinkEdit: if you want to see what is possible with tank development, check my AAR.![]()

Of cource I can.
Soviet 85mm tank gun was a derivative of soviet 85AA gun. It had barel length 55.2 calibres. The armor-peircing shell weighted 9.2kg and speed 800m/s.
German 88mm L/56 tank gun was a derivative of 88AA gun. It had barel length 56 calibres. The armor-peircing shell weighted 9kg and speed 820m/s.
They are nearly identical, in fact, all WW2 participants had very similar 90mm AA guns, there is a great table on Russian wiki comparing them. Soviet 85mm AA was also used to great succes against tanks, and was later equiped with silimar shield to protect crew in combat.
Their tank-mounted derivatives are similar as well.

Well i guess the things we can hope for are modding capabilities of the tech trees. I hope to see extensive tech trees by modders featuring prototype tanks and tanks that just didn't make the cut
Obviously there was a time gap between the guns. Obviously they are not 100% identical.Yeah, Performance is maybe the wrong word.
Still imo, the 85mm D-5 L/51 didn't had the same performance as the 8.8cm KwK36 L/56. The 85mm S-53 L/54.6 (ZiS) probably had, but than again the Tiger I was running around on the battlefield around september/october 1942, while the 85mm ZiS variant was only available from january 1944. This is a two year gap.
But than we are comparing orange with apples, as the the 85mm was mounted on a cheaper and faster chassis.
What I would like to see in HoI4 and if the Piercing value from TFH is still in HoI4. (Personally I think the piercing and armour value's are a great addition, not everybody agrees about this), is that the piercing value is linked to the tank gun. So if a heavy tank has the same gun as a medium tank.
I.e: KV-85 -- T-34/85 -- SU-85, their piercing value should be the same, in HoI3 vanilla this isn't the case. That's why I modded it.
Ofcourse I agree that the flavour names should be there, otherwise modders can't mod/alter it. Imo Paradox always neglected land/air/naval models a bit, probably because they have limited time/budget and there are more important things to work on like a great military AI.
