Hi there! I have been poking through the mod events files, without SWMH and noticed that the events to spawn the Golden Horde are gone. Is this intentional?

Yeah I would also like this to happen that mongol empire seperates into two vanilla titles as "golden horde" and "ilkhanate" ?
Pretty sure this happens dynamically at some point after a certain date like in vanilla.

Where is this supposed vanilla event for the Mongol Empire to split into the Golden Horde and the Il-Khanate?

I've never seen any evidence of such a thing. If it's there, then EMF would use it, as its version of the Mongol events is only slightly modified. I've been through the entire mongol_events file, however, and there hasn't been anything with prompts the Golden Horde or the Il-Khanate to appear ever since vanilla changed it so those two realms didn't spawn at the same time.

From the mongol_events.txt on steamapps/common/Crusader Kings II/events, we have event 60001, Arrival of the Il Khanate, 60002, Arrival of the Golden Horde. Now that I watch closely, I notice that they are disabled (always=no #replaced by new mongol arrival event).

But yes, I can't find anything involving the mongol horde splitting in two either. There are still events regarding the GH and IlKhanate conversions.

Yes, the old pre-Horse Lords event had the Il-Khanate and Goiden Horde spawn individually -- with Genghis never actually appearing at all, unless you started from the bookmark where he already exists.

When Horse Lords came out, that was replaced by Genghis appearing personally and establishing his empire. There is nothing to cause the Mongol Empire to actually split up, however, so the Goiden Horde and Il-Khanate will never appear unless you begin in a bookmark where they've already formed.

Are there any plans to model the splitup of the Mongol Empire at some point?

Maybe at some point. I made a split-up event chain for Plus prior to Horse Lords coming out, but never updated it afterwards. I might resurrect it at some point...though we currently do have this whole compatch thing going on, and then the inevitable fallout as that will need to be tested and events modified to suit, so that very much takes precedence.

This is what I was remembering (poorly) and then partly inventing, sorry to add to the confusion.

Don't forget about Chaghatai (or Moghulistan if we want generic name)!

Moghulistan refers to the successor state on the eastern half of the Chaghatai Horde, while the western half wound up the starting ground to Timur's empire. A better "generic" name would be Transoxiana or Mawarannahr.
