Am I doing something wrong? When its my turn to be President, I can give orders to the Federation Fleet(s), but as soon as they complete the orders, they go off and do whatever they want.

Mind you, I'm in a federation with one other empire, and they had the bright idea to start this. So it is sorta their federation. But still.

AI can move federation fleet if their admirals attached to it. Sometimes it can move it even without admirals and without being president. Vodoo magic.

From what I read on reddit, you can solve that problem by upgrading the fed-fleet to designs of your making.

A know bug is that the previous Federation President keeps the ability to order the fleet around. A simple fix is just "Create New Fleet" -> "Transfer All".

This only seems to happen if you're in a federation started by the AI - in my exhaustive case study of 2 games.

For the record, Making a new fleet gives you back control. And the new "transfer all" button makes this bearable.

When the presidency moves on and comes back to you, you'll still need to make new fleets even if you recognize the new fleets you made last rotation by name.

Of course, if you have a fleet of one wayward ship, it is trickier, but you can coax them into merging with other fleets.
