The lack of any dev responses in that regard is a bit concerning. I think the chances that the devs "forgot" to put a whole feature in a rather slim, to be honest.
Actually, if you consider the history of CKII's QA, it's completely plausible.
Because the only real option past 'oops, we forgot it' is to say 'we didn't have time to implement it'. And, as we saw with the rest of Societys missing, they didn't have an issue admitting to that and promising to implement the missing Societys later.

I suppose whoever makes a 'Fixed Hermetic Society' mod first will earn an (imaginary) fortune.

Seems to me that they actually released an unfinished product (once again). As for the lack of dev responses, I bet they didn't have enough time to implement the features and they're now working their asses off in order to deliver the "missing features". I wouldn't be surprised to see them implemented in a future patch but that in turn shows they sold us, what in reality is, a beta version.

And not to even mention the blatant balance issues...

Dev Diary #37 contained the following quote on Hermetic Society abilities

"Other powers and abilities include attempting to divine the future using Scrying, making Horoscopes for your children, experimenting with drugs and medical techniques, and eventually writing your magnum opus - a book of lore and knowledge that you enshrine for the ages."

The ability to experiment with drugs or ingredients gathered is currently not in game, and is an issue pointed out in several threads in the main forum here and here. I, and other users, have scanned the related expansion decisions and events files and not found any options to use ingredients gathered using the intrigue tab. As we have no ability to discard the ingredients upon acquisition, this could block our ability to trigger other events because we lack treasury space. Thanks!

Yeah it's indeed a problem, coming from, as always, time constraints. It's too bad it couldn't make it for release, really, but at least you can rest assured that we've not sweeped that under the rug and we're on it to bring it in the game as it should be.

For now, you can at least enjoy your intestines and snouts collections, and hope the CIA doesn't take that out of context.

This make me somewhat cranky. They could just have postponed the launch of the DLC. Although that would also have made my cranky, but atleast less so.

But seriously: I understand time and resource constraints, especially on a DLC this late in a product's lifecycle. But understanding doesn't necessarily mean that I welcome omission of features. So yeah, I'm with the disappointed crowd...

C'mon man, the 'once again' proves you knew this could happen. If you wanted to avoid it you shouldn't have preordered/bought on release, instead of waiting a few weeks. Personally, I feel expansion is quite fun as it is, though if it would remain as it is currently I'd probably be a bit more cautious in the future; previous experiences suggest though that it will be fixed and completed in time based on customer review...

This is the first time I buy a paradox DLC on day one. Big mistake I guess. It is just deceptive to say there will be feature #1, when it is not there in the product you buy. More importantly, the partial implementation of feature #1 breaks another feature (overflowing inventory space, with no way to deal with it). This is not something you do when you want to build customer loyalty...

Honestly?

If they knew they didn't have time to flesh out the ingredients, I would have preferred they just cut out all the events where you gain them, until they were properly implemented. As it is now, like other users have said, it's just really aggravating to have tons of useless items in your treasury that you can't do anything with.

I don't understand, why even bother putting in the decision to search for ingredients if they didn't have the time to finish implementing the feature? What purpose does this serve? If the decision wasn't there, complaints would be restricted to how content light this expansion is. Instead, people will complain about the expansion being small and unfinished.
