But more seriously, what are you expecting Paradox to do here, Dak? First they should order the publisher (their boss) how many copies to print, yes? And, should they manage to do that impossible thing, they then should call up EB etc and tell them exactly how many copies they have to buy from the publisher?

Paradox: "Hey, EB, we hear you ordered 20,000 copies from our publisher? Yeah, well that not enough! You'll take 2 million units and you'll like it! Your games are being shipped now, send us another $4,000,000."

Does that make sense to you?

Distribution problems happened with HOI and Victoria, so I'm not especially surprised this time around. Paradox is a small Swedish company game producer that has to work through distribution channels that they have limited control over, i.e. this ain't Wal-Mart.

I suspect that Paradox might actually prefer to have happy customers rather than unhappy ones. It is just an imperfect marketplace.

Yep, I remeber very well. I am getting a kick out of these posts, true comedy at its finest. I kind of figured this would happen, and when I ordered from Paradox thru the website, it said pre order, will SHIP on the 4th of January. And I remeber cruising the Crusader Kings forum and people saying that it took about a week or so to get the game from Paradox in Sweden to the States, so I figured I would not get the game until this coming week. No rush here.

Yesterday I ordered it online from EB games. I paid for overnight delivery. I had also prepaid for a copy at my local Electronics Boutique but a friend who runs the store told me to buy online as the game was unlikely to arrive. Like I said I got lucky!


Can't wait to get home tonight and play till the wee morning...

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my post I just hoped someone at Paradox would make a public statement to help out those still searching. Maybe they already have? I'm busy with the manual right now. And patients too...

my frustration is not really with Paradox or Atari...just looks like everybody was caught off guard with the popularity of a "niche" title. my beef is with the software companies who hire complete idiots that don't know what is going on (even when there is no confusion) and the fact that NOBODY seems to know what dates the game will be available in stores.
Best to just forget about it this weekend and play something else. Those of us in the states can watch football. Next week we will all have the game and employees at software stores will STILL be stupid.

If someone wants to vent that's one thing. I've seen and read many of them. However, the author of this particular claims he's some "medical professional" (which I guess is supposed to imply some sort of respect), he then claims that all responsibility for his unhappiness lies with Paradox. That's absurd. This is a game. These people need to occasionally visit the Church of the Painful Truth. And wallowing around in misery because a game hasn't shipped on time isn't going to make them feel any better. It is just going to make them more miserable. When someone then turns their misery and points it at someone else who worked their butts off (as in this thread) I'm going to call them on it. Was I rude? Yes. Probably. Do they need to hear this type of tough talk? Yes. You can be miserable but you will not start assigning blame when there's nothing actually wrong.

Really... Take a big deep breath and wait another week. I know it is hard. We all want it here but sheesh.

I remember very well. I still get a chuckle over some of the posts I recall from those days. People are downright calm this time compared to HOI I. Never seen hysteria quite like that over a game. Fear, loathing, and conspiracy theories were rampant...

I suppose, Dak, that my main objection to your post (other than the rather fallacious argument that Paradox has some control of the distribution process) is that Paradox has a history and record of service to their fans unparalleled in the industry. I think that should incline a customer to give them a lot of leeway and a healthy benefit of the doubt.
