I'm just curious to know where the name for the stops/stations comes from? I know most of them come from the streets they are on, some from certain buildings (i.e. Fire Station, Police station) but I have two stops in the same spot going different directions, one is a Grocery Store stop(which is nearby) and the other is Maria-Theresien Kaserne. This is near the military base in Vienna year 2000. I don't see any roads nearby with this Maria-Theresien name nor any buildings, The road both stops are on is Am Fasangarten.

So.. I'm lost where is the stop names being pulled from if its not a nearby building or street?

Hi, Kaserne is just the German word for military base. So thats where it comes from ;)

I see, I see. So then I assume that the area is named Maria-Theresien Kaserne, ie Maria-Theresien Military base for the english folk? Cause I cannot find a building within the base named that, if it is indeed the area that can be named, I hope the editor allows that as well. Thank you very much Morngwath.

I just wish I could alter the names of the stops myself! Often I'll place a stop somewhere and it will have an appropriate and descriptive name (ie, 'Hospital'). And whenever I look at the lines using that stop, I know where the 'Hospital' stop is. But if I need to move the stop, or if I place a stop there on a different transport type (I think), the game knows that the name 'Hospital' has already been used and won't let it be used again, and instead I get some name that doesn't mean anything related to the location of the stop, or a number (they start with '101'.) If I could rename the stops myself, if I could be bothered, I could give every line descriptive names for its stops!

Aye, it would be nice to rename the stops yourself. I too have noticed the 101 stop, usually in the Tutorial town, that small little area in the north west before all the houses? Never understood how the street(which has no name to it) gave the stop 101, but if its cause there is no name to take nearby I guess 101 is whats left?

I assumed 101 was the road name, the bigger inter-city road... Ah well, I guess it's better to have it named 101 than "Untitled" or "ERROR" or having it crash when it can find no name..

Maria Theresia was an austrian emperor from 1740-1780. She founded the organized austrian army and founded an academy in Wiener Neustadt and a big military base in Vienna. The base is still in use for the austrian army.

CO has done a really great job regarding street and building names. Most of them are really existing at the same place in real life. But there are still a few major issues, as Rotenturmstraße in the center never had 4 lanes and Gürtel isn't a motorway.
