Seeking for the game in switzerland drove me nuts - it was simply not available (january 04).
I finally ordered a german version from amazon.de and - after it delayed (2-3 weeks) - a US version from amazon.com.
A friend of mine simply downloaded a black copy arguing that he didn't intend to order online and wait 2 weeks for a delivery.

Anyway I ordered it on the web too - it only arrived in Danish stores one month after official release date so I ordered it from a Danish web shop!
This is a little OT but if they are not already selling the game in Hobby Stores (the kind of stores that sell board games of the same complexity) then they should.

Bought it at EB but only because none of the other stores had it. Said I wasn't going to do it after the way they jerked everybody around about when it would be on the shelves. But CompUSA and GameStop hadn't even heard of it.
I bought it at an EB where I don't normally shop - so at least the local EB guy, the one who kept telling me tomorrow, tomorrow (I thought he was auditioning for Annie!) didn't get my business. :rofl:

Bought it in a local games shop, but i had to wait a while as the french version didn't come out very fast...
Bought it online: No store in the DC area has it (O Strategy First Where Art Thou?).

EB has it in their stores now? I didn't even know they did, at least the one I go to didn't when I was there last week. Lame.
I ordered mine on-line at GoGamers.com. I had not preordered, have seen too many preorders go bad. The GoGamer site was a tip on this forum, at time of NA release. I had planned to go to my local EB dwtwn Seattle and purchase (they had EU2 and HOI within 2 days of release.) EB had no idea when they were getting Vic, and most of the forum folks that preordered were not getting any confos of shipping.

ordered from canadian online store. it took ages to travel south with the duck migration.
I bougth the game online because there's nobody who wants to release it in the Benelux ,
what enrages me - and they had to call 5 squads of SWAT teams to calm me down - is that there are still lying 6 copies in the game shop of the monstruous MOO3 - that good reviews and yet Victoria a super game - still enjoying - is nowhere to find here,
when you consider facts one is totally beginning to lose faith in the logics of the human brain,

I had to buy it through dvdboxoffice since there is no Polish publisher (I paid with all tarriffs and taxes fourth times more than I would pay if I could buy it in Poland.

This thread shows that there is very obvious problem in the distribution chain. I think that this factor, much more than any other, played the most important part in Victoria's disappointing sales. And of course, many of still remember the debacle surrounding Victoria not being shipped when it was supposed to and all of the controversy around that. There were quite a few angry folks at that time.
It all comes down to this, it's really quite a simple truism of economics. You just can't buy something if you can't find it anywhere.

Got it at EB, about a week after the official release, with only a three day delay from when originally told that it would be in stock. Perhaps living close to Canada helped, the copies were tossed across the St. Lawrence river and floated down the Connecticut and then took the Gulf Stream to Narraganset Bay (Rhode Island).
Got mine at EB the day after Christmas, after hoping (unsuccessfully) I would get it as either a birthday or Christmas gift (my birthday is Dec 24, so...)
I went to Best Buy first, as the local EB is inside the mall that the Best Buy is next to, but they did not have it in stock or in their database.
