Where did you buy the German version? (no discussion about censorship!!)

This topic is purely for exchanging information about good places to buy the German version. No discussion about censorship!! Dear admins, please don't lock an entire topic due to some people breaking the rules. Please just punish them not everyone else.

I read that you can buy the German version at GreenManGaming, yet wasn't able to find it there. Apparently someone purchased the international version, got a refund and then was offered the censored version instead. GMG has this neat IRON25 coupon for a 25% discount. That's the reason I want to buy it from there (official steam retailer btw.).

The problem is that according to the website you get the keys upon release, so you aren't really able to check if they cause trouble with the regionlock. Has anyone purchased the game via GMG and can give me more details?
Is it only possible to activate a pre-ordered game immediately if you buy it on Steam directly?

What are good places to buy the German version besides the Steam shop?
Obviously we don't discuss grey market shops here or anything containing the term "VPN" (breach of Steam policy)!

This morning, I asked GMG for a refund but received no aswer yet. I will keep you updated.

I would love to buy there but there are no information about whether it is just a key or a boxed game. If it is the international or German version.
We also got no choise to buy anything else than the cadett edition for 39.99 Euro. They don't even mention the other two.

I bought the Field Marshal Edition at GMG at my office in Poland. There was no alert, that it is not working in Germany. I could activate the key in Steam at Poland and it shows up at Steam library. Only the game book is shown for now.

Now I am back in Germany where i am living. I saw HoiIV at my Steam with German internet. Could i play and could i download the game and further DLC on my PC in Germany? I only work at Poland with my notebook and have to play at my home in Germany.

I think only the devs can answer my question and what i have to do now.

Paradox, please give me infos.

If not, please provide me a german key.

The version listed by Amazon is the physical one. In the end, it must be the German version, otherwise they would ship versions, which you can't activate here, which would be a massive problem. And Germany is one of the countries, where Paradox sells physical versions for every "bigger" game.

Yeah, it's bummer, that we can't purchase the other editions.

Same here. You were able to activate it because the key you received is only valid for War Stories, which is not region-locked. You will receive another key for the game itself on June 6th which you will not be able to activate (see SteamDB entry for HoI IV game).

Maybe a few weeks after release there will be some mods, that change the german version to the international version (pics, events, flags)

I've spoken with my sales team and they confirmed that customers in Germany will get a fully working key when the game is released.

So you can just order it at paradox and get the right version.

I don't see the removals of pictures and those stuff as the major problem, but a major problem are DLCs, which aren't distributed in Germany due the geo lock.

Would be nice if they share this piece of information with everyone, because thats what I was waiting for, so people know whether to cancel their pre-order from Paradoxplaza or not.

But well, they lose the revenue and its their own fault. I'd just like a working key on release day.

@BjornB Can you confirm germans will get working keys on release day from Paradoxplaza? In your own interest, tell the facts somewhere more prominently.

i´ve spoken with my sales team and they confirmed that customers from Germany will get a fully working key when the game released.
It will be censored but that is unfortunately not something we can change as it due ti various laws in Germany.

In short, it will work, but if you want a refund i can do that as well.
