Alas, Paradox has not included aircraft in the military form into the game. There has been talk of trying to incorporate it as a brigade (like artillery or guards) or even creating another unit, but it's unlikely to happen.

I believe the reason for the lack of aircraft is that, during Victoria's time period, they really hadn't reached a truly useful pinnacle of power. I mean, in World War One, airplanes were used mainly for observation of enemy troop movements. Just because there were fighters doesn't mean that hundreds of thousands of Germans were killed by French aircraft strafing the trenches, and just because there were bombers doesn't mean that London and Paris were laid waste by a primordial Luftwaffe. Airplanes in this era simply hadn't reached the strength and utility necessaryt for incorporating them into the game.

If there is one thing aircraft could do, though, it is show you more accurately into which province an enemy army is moving, or perhaps they could let you see one province farther into the fog of war. But aside from these rather simple changes, no, I don't believe aircraft should be in the game, nor are they.

I think that aircraft should be in military form. Dirgibles did bomb London, though barely, and I think that maybe fighters could be used to fight the dirgibles and other aircraft. For instance, if a dirgible divison attacks a province, a factory will go down a level. If two divisons attack two levels will be taken away and so on. That ould keep things reasonable I suppose.

Edit: How about they loose 1000 pop?

I think the first time I read of aircraft being used in the modern sense of ground support was during the German counter attack at Cambrai. Memnon is correct, primarily aircraft were used to deny the enemy of his artillery observation balloons. I was surprised at the number of planes that were involved in doing this at Verdun for both sides.

Strategic bombing was not nearly so accurate or powerful as to take away a whole level of a factory. Sure, people were killed, and sure many more were terrified of the invincible German Zeppelins, but there was very little actual damage to the British economy.

Maybe an invention which increases your enemies war exhaustion by an extra %25 or so, in addition tro seeing farther in fog of war, and perhaps a slight combat modifier.

Ha! 1000 civilians (Actually, 1000 pop = 4000 people.) killed in one bimp attack? Did blimps even kill that many in the entire war?
