Looking through my core provinces I noticed my capitalists are gone. This screen indicates they demote to artisans? WTF? Why??? And socialist capitalists? Had the world gone mad?

I have like 13k capitalist, 5k of of them in Curacao, the tint little island of of Zulia province, previously from Venezuela, doing god knows what???

I think they migrate where they can build factories. Which is nonsense, for firstly they can build factories in other provinces as well, secondly they could just reap the benefits of their work.

Hey, dont panic...you arent losing capis :D

See the yellow arrow in front of the number 394.
It means pop is stable...1 is going artisan or whatever, another pop just replaced it.

Every pop, even the most happy, have some dudes that think grass is greener elsewhere, and, as capis cant go aristos, they demote.
But if capi pop is doing well, there are some other pop promoting to it.

Now socialist capis in such numbers, that, ive never understood....

Dude, I'm loosing them. This is just one of them, but there are some home provinces where my 0.02-0.04 % capis went to zero! Despite there being profitable factories. Anyway, I find capitalist "promoting" to craftsmen ridiculous, so I made it happen only when they can't make enough money.
Luckily paradox games usually allows such tweaking, thanks to the devs! :)

Perhaps 0.02 % of the pop was too small a number.
It seems the game tend to make low pop count (like 5 10 20 whatever) disappear and merge into something else, probably to help calculating process.
Promote more :D or NF clerks as those help by themselves and promote/demote to usefull pops including capis.

There's no need to mod the game to prevent capitalist demotions to artisans. They won't be demoting to artisan unless there is a good reason.

The picture you posted shows no net loss of capitalists. If you could show us a picture with real capitalist loss, we can help.

As for socialist capitalists, they will turn socialist if there is demand for social reform AND they are making money hand over fist. Ditto for aristocrats. If the rich are doing well, they are prepared to give into reform pressure much more willingly than if things aren't going their way. This is absolutely vital for countries with appointed UHs, since only the rich can enact reform anyway.

Many of my home provinces got de-capitalisted and I clearly saw some if Wallonian capitalists demote to artisans despite their luxury needs being fulfilled. Once I'll be free to play V2 again, I'll try to make some screens. But otherwise I'm happy with my modification and I think it makes perfect sense :)

Still, you didnt lose any capi...

All the arrows are yellow stable, not red going down.
So, sure, 1 capi is going clergy...but in the same month, 1 of your other pop is going capi (you can even check which one searching all over your pop).

Your capis are doing ok, not good enough to raise in number (green arrow)...but good enough to stay same number...
So, if 1 or more of your other pops wanna go capi, your existing capis HAVE to demote as they cant go aristo (going rich strata to anything else is a demotion)

You've said that your capitalist % went down. Which is likely. Capitalists are only needed in absolute numbers, not relative to other POPs. Eventually you should reach a point in game when the natural growth of other POP types is large enough to significantly drown out capitalists in many places. Follow the number of absolute capitalist POPs to see how it's changing. If PI would add POP growth charts this whole mess would be much simpler.
