I bought AoD through Steam, and was having a lot of issues with it. Steam told me, sorry, nothing they can do about it, talk to developer. Developer said, sorry this is due to Steam. Yeah, it was my "mistake" not to buy from Gamer's Gate, but that's why it was an impulse buy.

So I just downloaded AoD off the web and am now running Iron Cross on it. I paid for the game already, I'm not going to have a 3rd party or DRM lessen my game playing experience. I don't want to start messing around with Steam and mods.

I love Steam, and am a frequent customer, but they have their issues. The first time something like that happened was when I downloaded a cracked version of Empire Total War, and loved it, so I went ahead and bought it. When I played the retail version, it would not let me enable Crossfire. I played the cracked version again, and saw that game ran with Crossfire no problem. And there definitely was a difference in game play. So I just played the cracked version until the game got patched enough so that I could play it in Crossfire. IMO it was inexcusable that that some kid in a bedroom can make the game run better than Steam can.

While I'm probably technically violating a EULA, I don't feel that I'm doing anything ethically wrong.

Yes, please, release it at Steam, all my other HoI2 are there, even AoD that I also bought at Impulse but not worked well then I bought it at Steam and it worked without (many) issues. There's no point for me to buy it the third time at GamersGate just to play this mod, but I would like to play it.
I know also that I can probably install it changing the path but then, all patches will be the same and as I've seen at the forums this mod will need more patches to work well and I'll be forced to follow GG just to see when they are released (of course it also will be possible only if the modders remember to include a path window at the patch :) ). So guys, be good and release it at Steam.
