When will Eu5 coming?

I regret buying a CK2 DLC since I never used it and now CK3 is out....

I can relate. I bought most of CK2's DLCs thinking I'll play it when I'll get to it someday, but that day never came.

Although I wonder why they would update CK but not EU. I thought EU has a similar number of users? The graphics of EU4 look quite dated in my MacBook, significantly inferior to hoi4 graphics (I don't have CK3).

CK2 used an earlier fork of the engine than EU4 (2.5 iirc) so in terms of future support it was a tad more outdated.
HoI4/Stellaris use a fork of 4.0 or later.
IR and CK3 use the latest fork (I think they stopped using version numbers after some point).

That's, that's exactly what I wanted to know. So we can guess that EU5 is at least 2 years away, could be more.

CK2 is older, and it also reached the limits of its engine. A brand new game meant they could remake the base of the game and thus add features they wanted but could not add in CK2 due to its outdated engine. Performance.wise, CK2 was also reaching its limit so adding new features and provinces might have had a negative effect of performance.
In contrast, Johan still feels like EU5 is unnecessary and most of what they want to add into the game can be added without needing major engine changes. EU4 was, unlike CK2, made with the idea that it would get numerous updates over the years (CK2 was the first game to use the new DLC model, so it's codebase probably wasn't as flexible as in newer games).

I think after eu4 update every regions, eu5 will come out. Now they are working on SEA and NA. There is still possibility of Scandinavia&Baltic, Middle east one more for missions, maybe Aftica, and Latin america.

Exactly: cashflow. After 2/3 years they will be probably running out of stuff they can sell to their userbase, so a EU5 will be necessary to keep the cash flowing.

EU 5 will come when AI will be not longer patchable. Judging from current situation this decision is close.

For me EU IV is the masterpiece of Paradox. Yes, despite all the bugs introduced in recent years, and all the broken or less enjoyable mechanics, in its core, it is a masterpiece. Unfortunatly it was subjected to the DLC madness. It was too much. Too many choices for the AI too make...

I don't know.. I'm scared of EU 5.

I hate the current world's state of affairs. I hate it.
