When will EU 4 become a country simulator?

How about next expansion improve interior and peacetime management.

Some ideas:
Have a parliament where different politicians comes from different provinces and from different factions.
And the king (the player) has to listen to the parliament.
Every province could have different govenors depending on what what faction is powerful there.
The factions could request that you do different things and you could influence what faction is strong in different provinces.
You could then get monarch points depending on which is the leading faction in the country and not just like now where you get a random score depending on your monarch.

This system could tie everything together.

This however wouldnt apply to 90% of kingdoms as far as history goes.

Do you have any sources?

First Swedish parliament was assembled in 1435 according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riksdag .
And Im sure most countries in Europe had parliaments, with various degree of influence.
This could of course also be in the game, where the parliament could have small influence or large influence.

When will EU 4 become a country simulator?
Probably never.

Notably, the PDS title that is a country simulator (Vic2) was considerably less popular than its contemporaries.

Don't care so much about the word "simulator".

The point of the post was if they would make a parliament system with factions.
Oh, that's a different question. I was typing out an answer similar to the earlier ones, i.e. probably never be a country simulator like Vic2.

As to whether they would add factions to the parliament system, I could imagine the devs possibly doing that (edit - assuming they try it and like it, since they place a lot of value on fun). The CK2 team just added a tribal system with something like factions.

Probably never.

Notably, the PDS title that is a country simulator (Vic2) was considerably less popular than its contemporaries.
It still broke their expectations based on Victoria sales, beat the CEO's imagined sales with the preorders alone, and got two expansions. While it didn't sell as much as EU3 and HoI3, it still is firmly in the "main franchise" field.

They kind of have the basics of that with the factions of the Merchant Republics. If they weave that together with the new Parliament type, but have the factions wanting concessions/bribes instead of monarch points, that could be potentially quite a fun mechanic.

Yesh, then do that for the 150 tags in the game and make AI that can deal with it.

Did you read what happened after the last expansion to CK2? how performance crashed after more tags added and map expanded woth Horse Kings?

I´m not saying the game shouldn´t use more depth, and Victoria 2 wasn´t perfect either. but it does create it´s own set of potential problems.

I dont think performance is an issue.
HoI 3 doesn't lag and it is bigger than CK 2.

-------------
I didn't think it would be like Victoria 2's politics system where you mainly are an observer. Which I don't like.
I would have some kind of mix between EU Rome and Magna Mundi. There were some good ideas there.

Well my friend the fact is that they added more stuff to CK2 and it´s much slower, and most mods in hOI 3 had terrible issues with crashes.

So no. It´s not "easy". Doesn´t mean it shouldn´t be improved, just that it isn´t like playing Tic Tac Toe.

I think the merchant republic factions system and the parliament system for constitutional monarchies and England (there's also the dutch republic and theocracies are quite cool) are a step in the right direction. They could perhaps make these existing systems slightly deeper but tbh I think they are ok. What I think they should do is add more of these unique systems so that ideally each different government type has its own unique system as well as the bonuses it already grants. Therefore you'd get a different experience each time you play a nation with a different government and also when you change your government type you'd actually notice a significant change in how the country is run.

It would also be nice if they added some more government types unique to certain nations.

The the OP - if you haven't tried Victoria 2, you really should. It has more of these elements that you're looking for. I think EUIV is a solid game but it can't compare to Victoria 2's internal management and potential depth.
The problem, as usual, is that if Victoria is an Early Modern Age game then I didn't receive the memo about it. It fills another chronological niche, with different problems and different point of view.
