When universe creation doesnt feel quite right...

In my current playthrough with a humanoid (continental preference) race, i set the game sliders "habitable worlds" to 2x and the "guarantueed habitable worlds" one to 2. By year 2229 my race owns 20 systems, with my homeworld and 1 (!) single colony, which is a 45% hab tropical world.

In a total of 30+ systems i have access to, the next best world is 10% hab, got 2 of them, plus 3x a 5% hab. Thats it. In your experience, is this what to expect from galaxy generation? Sounds a bit low / harsh to me. Anyone with similar experiences? And btw 77b7 still seems to have the mineral surplus problem as well.

i haven't touched such setting but the one game i generated on 2.2.4 it does seem to have alot of minerals (one system has 31 minerals!)
and altough the ai has had luck with colonizable systems, i have 3 size 14-18 80% worlds and no other habitable planet nearby. just found a 24 size 60% tho so thats nice.
but the planet thing feels more like an exception to me. since the ai did have a good amount of planets.

I do feel those guaranteed habitable worlds aren't so guaranteed anymore. I had one 80% and 60% and the rest all in 3 jumps were 20%. This is with 5x habitable planets. But earlier today I also had 5 exact 80% planets.

They are as guaranteed as ever. The thing is they will be close in Euclidean distance not number of jumps. If you play UNE your planets will always be in Alpha Centauri and Sirius, and those systems will always be adjacent. But they might be 5 or 10 or 15 jumps away depending on how the galaxy generates.

If you play a elliptical galaxy it’s less likely to be an issue compared to say a 4 arm spiral.

I set the "habitable worlds" to 0.5. In general, I see more planets. Seems to be a quite low number.

I think you've just been unlucky. It may be a lot to do with habitable worlds being based on distance, not number of jumps, as others have suggested.
Still, based on a fair number of starts I would say your result is unusual. Whats common in my experience and annoying if you are trying to go for non-conquest expansion is to get a handful of easy colonisations nearby then have no habitable planets unless you are prepared to acquire a dozen mostly useless systems for the sake of the gold at the end of the rainbow.
