Think of Offensive as a 'adrenaline-rush' for your units. Its costly, but very effective and can and has turned the tides in battle with me. Getting those African based units under UK control booted out of the continent as Italy is a big ask.

It is my understanding that Offensive is meant to mimic the logistics changes from a unit in the barracks to a unit in a fight.

In barracks, a few rounds issued to those standing guard duty, minimal stockpiles of needful things appropriate for occasional training and basic day to day business of a military unit.

In the fight, the ammo and other needful things, stockpiled at various levels of command to ensure "good enough" flow forward of logistics in order to sustain a unit in battle.

In battle, I have my units on Offensive. Otherwise, it seems to me that I'd be sending forces out into the fight with only whatever they'd be expected to have on hand when in barracks.

Anyone have further info on movement speeds etc?

"Offensive Supply" => costs lots of Supplies (and Oil if applicable) => increases SE => increases ESE => increases: movement speed, Soft & Hard Attack, Defensiveness and Toughness, Air Attack and Air Defense, re-ORG rate, and reinforcement rate.

How do movement speeds actually calculate? I believe there is a minimum speed that applies even in mud etc. Does offensive supply then increase that speed above the minimum? Also what modifier does OS put on speed, ORG regain etc.?

I've never used offensive mode in years of play. I tried it out after reading this post, and can't believe I've played so long without it.

Same here

It is my understanding that Offensive is meant to mimic the logistics changes from a unit in the barracks to a unit in a fight.

My guess would be more of a supply priority to certain units, which equals more trucks, horses or other stuff there to deliver ammunition, food, clothing, water etc etc to the front than normally. Could be said as in similiar for that armoured divisions had priority regarding trucks and halftracks than other divisions that might use them in terms of replacing irrecoverable or irrepairable losses.

All I can say is, if you're trying to take over the entirety of south america as Argentina, the offensive button is absolutely indispensible. Hundreds of miles of dense jungle with really awful infrastructure and an overloaded transport capacity makes for a horrible, protracted war of attrition.

For urban centers if they have alot of forces in it and I know I can take it if I can hit it enough. I've had the Soviets garrison Moscow with 130 divisions before. It was a nightmare breaking them but getting assaulted by 100 divisions from all sides on offensive supply kind of breaks ya. Still, you wind up paying the piper.
