It's always bit rich when the people who have probably spent a thousand hours on something tell others who can't have a go on it that "it's not thoroughly finished" enough for them to experience. People wanna get their fix and then maybe comeback in 6 months and then perhaps the full release version will be there, rather than leave people hanging for years.

People might want that but they're not entitled to it, and the creative minds behind it are perfectly within their rights to say that they don't want anyone seeing their work before it's finished. You wouldn't demand that a Hollywood studio show you the latest blockbuster before they've replaced the green screens with CGI, would you?

It's always a bit rich when people who haven't even seen the product yet assume it's finished when they are repeatedly told by the team (who have spent a thousand hours on it and know their product best) that it isn't in a releasable state yet.

It is clearly in a releasable state. Far more releasable than Charlemagne was on release. This is garbage excuse.

Currently, we still haven´t integrated some critical content and the current version is far from bug-free

I got a vote? Vive la république! ;)

Anyway, I have been a bit extra active on this thread too and has tried to help any newcomer when needed aswell as giving out the basic info. Erik W has also done that job (aswell as Pseudo). My job is also to take care of the French threads that I have setup on other forums. I came here early and was so active that people took me for a dev already then! When we get a subforum, a such post might be amongst the team of development (I do not use the term "beta tester" here as I assume that after the release it will change) necessary.

Non! Vive le Roi. Replublique c'est tyrannie et terrible.

Monsieur? Argumentez pour cela!

Anyway I think that the mod will and should be releasable before the end of the year!

Can I be the official Reddit announcer? When the mod is released I'll make a thread in r/paradoxplaza!
Probably, yes. As long as you credit everyone and explicitely say that it is Enlil's mod I do not see why not.

It is better to release a fully finished product after a while rather than release some half-finished and rushed-through bug garbage. I mean, look at Rome2!

Bad argument - firstly, I (and others) would have preferred the original game when it was released, rather than wait another year for the current, polished version, because it was inevitably only going to get better with each new patch released. Secondly, the only reason Rome II has gone from being god awful on release, to really quite good now, is because of the public feedback that was provided by everyone who bought it when it came out, with which CA could use to patch and make the game better.

Not necessarily suggesting that it should be released to the public or not, but if it's good enough for an AAR (or rather, three AARs), then it sounds good enough for a public beta release - just stick a warning on the download page saying that it is a beta release, and known to be buggy. Then set up a 'Bug Report' thread where everyone can neatly submit the bugs they come across, much faster and more efficiently that just the beta group can. Why do we play Paradox games? Because we love history and castrating our enemies and their family (or is that just me?), and we play mods like this because it enables the base game to be built upon in a way that will never happen with vanilla. There a literally hundreds of people waiting for this to be released, and every day that passes where a playable version exists, but isn't released is an injustice to all those who call Enlil 'emperor', or 'almighty', or 'sun god Ra' (or whatever he goes by now). I'm not saying that you guys are purposefully annoying us (far from it), I just think you might have mistakenly convinced yourselves that a closed beta will do a beta (pun very much intended) job than an open one.[/thoughts]

On the other hand, I still love everything Enlil (and the team) has done, and can't wait for the first release.

560's - Enlil Throws an Observer Game Bone

Intro:
As I put the finishing touches on the North Africa Dev Diary, I would like to show one of the coolest observer games I had, one I hope to make it till 867 on. This is an example on how awesome this mod can be.

World's Greatest Religions:

Nicene:
Though rocked with scandals, the Nicene church has stood strong, slowly reconverting the Arians, and providing a bastion for the old Roman world.

Germanic:
The Germanic lords rule undisputed throughout Europe, with their pagan sacrifices consuming many virtuous men.

Hepthal Syncretism:
This syncretic religion of Hinduism, Tengriism, and Zoroastrianism was normally the religion of the Hepthalites. Following the India conquests, this religion has spred outward, quickly dividing India between the syncretists in Northern India, with only the last remains of the Gupta remaining true, and the Hindu states in Dravidia. The Bengal region, and its Buddhist religion has experienced a peace during this time.

Zoroastrianism:
Though damaged in Persia, this religion spread far into Arabia, especially known for Zoroastrian preacher's successful conversion of the Thuringian, Ostrogoths, and Lombards, causing Zoroastrianism to become wildly popular in Norway, Friesland, and Germania Slavica.

World's Greatest Nations:

1. Roman Empire
Leader: Emperor Julius Nepos the Apostle III
Culture: Roman
Religion: Nicene
Interesting Facts:
Roman Emperors afteer Glycerius:

Julius Nepos "the Holy"
Pope Clement Flavius "the Ugly" (Former Romulus Augustus)
Julius Nepos "the Holy"
Julius Nepos II "the Lame"
Julius Nepos III "the Apostle"

2. Avar Khaganate:
Leader: Khagab Bayan Csurgoid
Culture: Avar
Religion: Tengri
Interesting Facts:
N/A

3. Persian Empire
Leader: Shahanshah Peroz Keyghobadzade Sassanid II
Culture: Persian
Religion: Zoroastrian
Interesting Facts:
Peroz II gained the Empire when his distant cousins, the twin Emperors Djamasp the Illustrious and Djamasp II the Wise were killed in battle against the Kidarite
King Mazaces the Holy.

4. Kidarites
Leader: Þao Martiya Kidara
Culture: Xionite
Religion: Hepthalite
Interesting Facts:
Gained independence from the Empire, when Þao Kandic and his Sister-Wife Damaspia both died in battle against the Hepthalite Emperor Vahbarz.

5. Tarraconensis
Leader: Tsening Thiadulf van Auxerre the Cruel
Culture: Old Frisian
Religion: Nicene
Interesting Facts:
Formally a minor Hartoch in Limonum, the Van Auxerres converted to Nicene Christianity and proceeded to carve their own Kingdom from the failing Pagan Frisian Kingdom.

6. Hepthalites
Leader: Rajadhiraja Xerxes Malgerucid the Potbelly
Culture: Hepthalite
Religion: Hepthalite
Interesting Facts:
The Kingdoms of Bhojid, Hunas, Rai, and Kidarite were all once fief to the mighty Hepthalite Xerxes, but his successive wars to push into Bengal led to the fragmenting of the great Empire

7. Hunas
Leader: Þao Khingila Charsada
Culture: Hepthalite
Religion: Hepthalite
Interesting Facts:
In his short vassalage to the Hepthalites, Khingila quickly embraced both the Hepthalite's culture and religion, eliminating all trace of his Hunas ancestry.

8. Westliklân
Leader: Tsening Folcpald Engibald III
Culture: Old Frisian
Religion: Germanic
Interesting Facts:
Founded by Folcpald the Ambitious, a general in the Frankish Army, who after conquering Alamannia and Thuringia, raised his own host to destroy the collapsing
Visigoths and Romans of Soissons. His further campaigns would lead him total domination over Gaul, Hispania, Ireland, South Britain, and Scotland, and a brief control of Mauretania under Folcpald II the Chaste. Unfortunately, blunders under Folcpald III, and the division of Ireland to Habo, and the city of Granada, and title King of Frisians to Liudbald, have caused the enemies of the Empire, notably the Christians of Tarraconensis, and the insurgent Gallic werlord Litarix Arveni to carve huge chunks of Frisian land.

9. Mauretania
Leader: Imalicus Evisu Reparatus the Scholar
Culture: African Romance
Religion: Nicene
Interesting Facts:
The Kingdom once seemed doomed when Pompeius the Monk was sacrificed by Thiedolfd Engibald, a petty Frisian Royal Family member during his raids along the coast, even worse when Romano-Hispanic warlords, fleeing from the Frisians conquered under Urbanus and Honorius, who still control most of the African lands.

9. Italy
Leader: Þiudi Ildefons Scirii the Apostle
Culture: Skirian
Religion: Nicene
Interesting Facts:
Grandson of Odoacer and Emperor Procopius, Ildefons has continued the legacy of pious and zealous protection of the Nicene church following the previous rulers
Odoacer and Radegonda the Snake. Overall, the Kingdom has known little peace, with the siezure of Genoa by Frisian Elderd Euitet, and the Apollinarian revolts,
caused by the debauchery of the Skirian Pope Sylvester the Wicked. These wars led to the loss of the West Italian coast to the Apollinarians under Octavius Calvinus of Latium and Philip of Campania.

10. Italia
Leader: Rex Philip Anicius
Culture: Roman
Religion: Nicene
Interesting Facts:
This Roman rump has fared much better than the Skirians to the north, with former Praetorian Prefect Manlius Boethius rising against odoacer and founding his own state. It is unknown how the restoration of the Roman Empire will effect matters.

11. Tamilakam
Leader: Samrat Vicayatitta Kalabhras
Culture: Tamil
Religion: Hindu
Interesting Facts:
Save for the warring Maharashtri states to the North, the Tamil Empire is the last bastion of Hindu power in India, with Buddhist lords in Bengal, and the Hepthalite syncretism spreading further than the dreaded hordes themselves. Where many, like Rais and Bohrid aligned themselves with the invaders, along with the fall of the Western coast to Bhakti heretics under the Achugi dynasty. If Hinduism, and Indian culture itself is to survive, it will on through the Kalabhras

12. Englaland
Leader: Cynning Marbold Bjorwulfsson Wehhing
Culture: Anglo-Saxon
Religion: Germanic
Interesting Facts:
It seemed that the Frisian domination of the isles was inevitable, but then, an unexpected resistance formed under the small tribe of Esseaxna. Quickly subjugating the other tribes, suddenly, a unified resistance to Frisian domination was formed. This was to much for Frisian King Reginhard the Fat, who was barely able to keep the Kingdom stable. Now the great Anglo-Saxon King is turning his eyes towards the Northern and Southern Frisian holdings, intent on pusing them from England forever.

12. Axum
Leader: Baccinbaxaba Amare "the True Christian Knight" Zoskales
Culture: Ge'ez
Religion: Miaphysite
Interesting Facts:
It was believed that no Axumite Emperor was ever as poweful as Amare, the brave King who brought war to the Himyarite and placed his cousin Aman Zoskales as a vassal King. What more he converted Ammyitha the Godless and Ammyitha the Cruel (Of Saba and Mahara) to Miaphytism.

13. Vandalica
Leader: Þiudi Poppo the Just
Culture: Vandalic
Religion: Arian
Interesting Facts:
Vandalica has become the last bastion of Arianism on earth. Burning from all sides, the Kings can only strive to delay the fall of their kingdom for as long as possible.

14. Latium
Leader: Legatus Augusti Octavius Calvinus
Culture: Roman
Religion: Apollinarian
Interesting Facts:
The Papacy of this timeline had descended into a state of total depravity, beginning with the Pople Anacletus the Generous and Pope Evaristus, who had illegitimate children with the same woman! This marked only the beginning of the decline of the Papacy, evidenced by the ascension of Pope Clement the Ugly, former Roman Emperor Romulus Augustus, whose usurpation of the Western Empire and its temporary transformation into a Theocratic state was an appalling power grab from the supreme pontiff. This was followed by Pope Paschal the Rich, who horded gold to himself. Following his murder, power fell to Anacletus II, the illegitimate child of Marina, daughter of Pope Anacletus the Generous! Pope Sisinnius the Recluse hid from the public eye, so his death was quickly followed by Stephen, a virtuous man whose 3 month rule ended with a death to illness. Pope Hilarius, though not of sound moral character, was vastly contrasted to Pope Sylvester the Wicked, who was placed on the Papal throne by Skirians themselves. His wickedness, Skirian background, and illegal conquest of the
throne of St. Peter ruined the moral integrity of the church, causing Apollinarian heretics, a longtime power in Campania, to violently rebel against the Nicene Church. the resulting wars led to two mighty states to rise from the ashes, and the Papacy to lose its vassalship to Italy.

15. Campania
Leader: Legatus Augusti Philip of Pesaro
Culture: Roman
Religion: Apollinarian
Interesting Facts:
The Campania region has had an Apollinarian majority for a long time, but unlike that of Octavius Calvinus, the rebellion in Campania was led by the nobility, who under the Pessaros, have ruled Salerno since 480. Eventually, ideological differences broke between the Pessarian Apollinarians and the Calvinist Apollinarians, leading to the Campanian Attack on Capua, which weakened both states, and doomed the lesser Apollinarian state in Lucania. Currently, tensions are gone between the two states, who stand against Nicene invasion as one force.

16. Gangas
Leader: Maharaja Kambarasa Gangas the Theologian
Culture: Kannada
Religion: Hindu
Interesting Facts:
The Gangas Kingdom is currently pulled between two worlds. It's closeness to the other Hindu states, including the Kalabhras Empire, keep the Gangas currently rooted in the Vedic world, but an alliance between the powerful Sindhi ruler Raidhan Rai and other influential practitioners of the Hepthalite religion threaten to rip the heart out of the last bastion of Hinduism.

17. Rajputana
Leader: Maharaja Apara Gangeya Bhojid III
Culture: Rajput
Religion: Hepthalite
Interesting Facts:
The Bhojid are a religiously dynamic nation, with Apara Gangeya's father Apara II a practitionor of Mimamsa, a heterodox Hindu school. This heresy quickly distanced the Bhojid from the Guptas, and made them an easy first target for Hepthalite aggression. Though the majority Mimamsa made some early resistance, it quickly was consumed by the syncretic Hepthalite religion. Now, Bhojid preachers have spread the Hepthal Syncretism as far as Grand Satrap Datayola the Mighty, an Indo-Scythian warlord who at first seemed like the shield of Hinduism.

18. Oman
Leader: King Jafnah ibn Ilyafa Azd'Uman the Hunter
Culture: Kahlan
Religion: Semitic
Interesting Facts:
One of the last Semitic Kingdoms to have not fallen to Miaphytism or Zoroastrianism, Jafnah is responsible for leading the last resistance towards monotheism, as High Chief Waeel the Rough has already had many of his court convert to Zoroastrianism.

19. Rouran Khaganate
Leader: Khagan Bogen Mengu-Timur the Lionheart
Culture: Mongol
Religion: Tengri
Interesting Facts:
It seemed like the Avars were going to dominate the world, with an Empire stretching from the gates of Mongolia to Dacia, the Avar domination stood prepared to invade Europe. But they didn't. A Great Khaganate, the Rouran invaded, destroying the Avar's dreams of supremacy. That is till now. Recently, a new horde called the Götürks cut off the Rourans distant Asian lands, and only barely were they defeated Only was their expansion halted when a joint Hepthalite-Rouran army crushed the Turks in the Mountains of Fergana. Now, the Khaganate is a shadow of its former self, barely holding on to its disparate subjects.

20. Sindh
Leader: Maharaja Raidhan Rai the Magnificent
Culture: Sindhi
Religion: Hepthalite
Interesting Facts:
The Mighty Raidhan Rai changed the face of India. In the mid 500's, the long Hepthalite domination was coming to a close, and it seemed their conquests were in vain. Then, the Rai converted and aligned with the hated hordes themselves! Quickly avenging his grandfather's death at the hand of the Govindids, the Rai began to expand deeper into India. Now, Raidan Rai stands to conquer all of Gujurat, making many wonder if Raidhan Rai has become the Horde himself.

Regular end date, 1453.

Really? Wow... I had been thinking it had its own end date. This mod just got even better. My game can last nearly 1000 years... Too bad it won't be exportable.

Have you added in extra tech levels, or is tech progression just going to slog at a snail's pace?
