Mormegil has asked that I post this poll.
The Question being when should the Scenario start?
Please read through the threads in this Forum before committing your vote :)

We wanted to have all the dates suggested in it. :)

The reason I voted 2000, is that then we will have the war of terror in it.

It will get narrowed down. Once we see which choices are the most popular, we can start a new poll with only the most popular choices... and so on, until one gets a clear majority of votes.

I suggest everyone to vote for 2000 or earlier, as that will give us more time to play within modern times, rather than in the future scifi times...

These poll votes are fairly interesting, but they won't be conclusive unless we get many more people to vote... Many forum users probably do not even know this poll exists. I would suggest that someone post a new thread in one of the main forums, telling other forum users to come here and vote...

Anything before the year 2000 does not belong in a modern day scenario.

As for simulating nuclear war, it is impossible; TOTALLY impossible. How do we simulate nuclear fallout? How do we simulate what happens when the russian player and the american player go to war? Turn the largest russian and american cities in the world into trading posts? No, that doesn't work, because the whole world would end and I'm sure that a warmongering nation like the U.S. would be much more warmongering in a warmongering game such as EU2, hence nuclear destruction leading to the end of civilization. So we can't implement nukes properly.

There is only one solution: Make two scenarios. One starts in 2002, or 2000, or sept. 11 2001, or whatever. The other starts in 2012. Neither have nuclear weapons, but one has the War On Terror events. I doubt that there will be much opposition to this plan and I am sorry for raving on in the previous paragraph.

That doesnt work.
You will get people voting who have no interest whatsoever in the scenario. They will just put their mark anywhere at whim without thinking about it.

2 votes should be the minimum requirements. If not, we will have all the same, uncept one maybe. I'm not sure if Kyran ment those above 1 or 1 and above, but 2 should be minimum IMO.

I think 3 votes should be the minimum requirement now. Unless more people vote...

Dude, 1945 is pretty modern... I mean damn, I consider the 1400s pretty recent. Human history is about 3 million years long.

Let's let the people decide, shall we? I am with MKJ that 1945 pretty much begins the modern era. I won't be a part of this project if a small minority is going to control all input in this scenario...

VONSSON. IS. MAKING. A. PRE-1991. SCENARIO.

That aside, it has already been agreed that we make different start dates: 1991, sept. 11 2001, specific month and day updated by the release 2002, and 2012.

1991 links us with Vonsson's scenario, the sept. 11 thing will cater to those who want to get those war on terror events without 10 years of AI shenanigans screwing up the world, the 2002 date will make it a real MODERN scenario, and 2012 will make it more realistic by removing nukes legitimately (BTW we came to the agreement long ago that anti-air technology would render bombers, cruise missiles, and ICBM's obsolete in that year).

All four of those scenarios end on the same date, but we will make others that stretch smaller timespans if there is a demand for them.
