As roleplay scenarios, you could say that your ruler is tired of dealing with that family, and the effort to keep them happy/under control is not worth the land. How can I roleplay such an event?
I can only see such a scenario if the ruler is generous - but wouldn't it be too much to give away independence? I just give them gifts, at the top of my generous roleplay...
Perhaps if the ruler is insane too?![]()
Guys, please, don't necro threads from 2013...
In this case the situation changed with the introduction of vassal limits and threat, better make a new thread.
And yes, if your goal is restoring the Roman Empire and you're over the vassal limit releasing a couple vassals outside the traditional borders seems like a good idea.
I'm not much of a boards person; I thought I was doing everybody a service, since all I ever read is: "there's allready a tread for this..." Thanks for your answer though, I wasn't sure if a was overlooking some mechanic or solution to my vassal problem, as i'm still in my first ever CK2 game.
I had a thread asking if people were using grant independence since it was, in my limited experience, very effective in cutting threat, but I wouldn't expect someone to find it.HAHAHAHAHAHA yes this!! Thats the story of my life too on these boards. The problem with this game in particular is that for whatever reason the search function isnt great at finding EXACTLY what I am looking for. So its usually easier to make a new thread rather than try & sift back through thousands of threads. But yea, you're damned if you do & damned if you dont pretty much.![]()
If you've acquired a county on the other side of the map that you can't really defend effectively, it's a good idea. Also useful if you want to avoid getting into foreign politics with the lords adjacent to your land. Alternatively you can use it to 'split off' part of your dynasty by leaving it to another family member. An AI-controlled ally can be useful.A simple question, that someone might help me out with...
I often notice this option, to grant a vassal independence, but why would I do that?
Is there ANY scenario where it would be a good idea?
