Can anybody explain when i should use this CB? Achieving the wargoal seems much more difficult than with Trade conflict or Conquest CB.
I also noticed that if my allies lose battles, the warscore goes negative.

What am i missing here?

Also useful if fighting a more powerful nation/alliance that is overseas or far away. Make a couple of early strikes against small armies or allies, then retreat troops and use ticking warscore + blockades to win the war without further fighting; In the peace deal can then weaken them (cancel alliances, release nations etc)

It's actually one of the better CBs in the game. Getting warscore is much easier since you get more from battles than you do with any other wargoal, even without winning 80% of the battles.

less AE and taking provinces without a claim doesn't cost Diplopoints, i think...

IIRC, that's only if the CB includes "all provinces" as one of its affected peace deals. Such as Deus Vult.

CBs such as Holy War, Cleansing of Heresy, and Overseas Expansion which use the "Show Superiority" war goal often allow you to get an AE discount (and zero DIP cost) for a much larger selection of provinces than the Conquest CB. For example, the Holy War and Cleansing of Heresy CBs apply to all provinces, not just border provinces or provinces you have a claim on.

All cbs that have that type of wargoal that I can think of are all among the most powerful ones in the game like oversea expansion that allow you to get alot of things including diplo free provinces and annexation on twice as large warscore and only half aggresive expansion.
