Background: I'm playing my first proper Ironman game, going for the Sultan of Rum and Silk Road achievement as the Ottomans (which involves a lot of blobbing and lots of wars) along with any other achievements I can get.

I've just made simple, silly mistake. Wrong Casus. Instead of Holy Warring Muscovy I've accidently chosen the 'Conquest' casus on a pointless province because I didn't check what casus I was using, I just hit the button the day after the message box informed me that my truce was up (thanks for that btw) to prevent them from joining the Austria/Spain coalition against me.

I realised my mistake instantly, but given that the casus has a major bearing on how much AE and provinces I can take please can you add a message confirmation box when declaring war?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

I would be okay with an option for it, but I do not want such a thing forced upon me.

To be fair, that is a mistake you only do once.
After that, you'll double check everything before going to war the next time.

I think a better Casus Belli screen might be a better solution? It isn't exactly brilliant as it is. I had to look online to make sense of what are the best ones lol.

I'm honestly completely baffled why anyone would disagree with the OP. The request should be expanded to include prompts for stability and WE hits and whatnot that go along with bad DOWs. This is something that has been on my mind since about when the game came out. I make these mistakes all the time.

Granted there are players that are just far more meticulous and/or focused than others or can simply multi-task or compartmentalize their minds better. These players tend to have little sympathy for the plight of the less gifted. However, plenty of players exist that could benefit from such a feature. I have times where I've played a game for hours or days on Ironman and made mistakes that basically blow the whole game.

An optional prompt certainly has merit for those that don't want or need it

Yeah, the mil access thing is BS. It should just be automatically canceled. Too much little crap like this makes the game a chore. Pretty much every other diplomatic agreement prevents you from even click the DOW button, so either make mil access work the same or auto-cancel it.

To be fair, that is a mistake you only do once.
After that, you'll double check everything before going to war the next time.

sorry, but this is a falsehood

Yes, but some times you can get caught up in the moment. I think what the OP is referring to is a war that will give like -5 stab or something. Just a simple "Are you sure?" dialog would help.

That's what it currently gives you. This war will cost x stability and x aggressive expansion; you are using x casus belli, proceed?
Wanting another dialog to open up simply because you don't want to pay attention to the first is rather silly, don't you think?

I wonder if this is moddable without messing with the checksum; confirm dialogues would be nice because sometimes you misclick the UI (especially those tiny autonomy buttons)

If you missed the first screen telling you that there will be a stab hit and a what cases belly you are using, I don't think another confirmation box will help. You'll just click yes twice (to the existing box, then to the new message box) thinking that everything is fine and then realise your mistake.

No, I don't think it's silly. There are a lot of things on that screen you need to spend attention on, so it's easy to miss that part. For example, I often look at the DoW screens of several allied nations to see who will pull the smallest alliance against me. It's easy to forget truces in that case.

The extra confirm should, IMO, *only* happen with stabhitting DoWs. That way it doesn't annoy you in the majority of cases, but only when something special is going on and it's less likely you did things right. A confirm dialog that doesn't usually show will be less easily ignored by accident out of habit.

He's says pretty clearly in the OP he wants a confirm because he selected a conquest CB instead of a Holy War CB. I honestly fail to see how an additional button to click will help him in that case. Seems like if you clicked through the CB screen without reading it then you'll probably do the same for an extra "Are you sure?" prompt.

One for wars that cause you to lose stability would be fine I guess, but I don't really want to have to reconfirm every choice I make.
