When exactly DO the Mongols show up?

Im just entering 1257 and still no Mongol hordes. When do they pop up in most peoples games?
Is the date too late for them to show up now?

I think the event file means they'll show up between 1222 and 1252, so am I buggered?

Bit annoying if I am, I wanted to fend off wave after wave of them

Iirc theres a % chance they wont show up at all. But I could be mistaken.

They can appear between 1222 and 1252.That's for the Golden Horde, the 'other horde' the Ilkhanate, appears between 1237 and 1266.The Golden Horde gets a second chance if they don't exist by 1255 to 1265.
