I'm quite pleased that Paradox rolled out a hotfix relatively quickly for some of the more serious bugs, but when can we expect to see things like vassal income fixed? I'm basically obsessed with having little minions running around and the vassal income bug is, needless to say, a pretty big deal for me.

This isn't a whine thread; I'm just curious so I know whether or not to start any games where my plans involve masses of vassals anytime soon.

What's the problem with vassal income?

It's ...... wrong

Also, embargo is not working which is preventing me from wanting to play a number of starts right now.

By the way, is there any plans to rework the LA floor? I want to play a native american tribe but the LA floor will make things extremely ugly looking...

What start requires embargos to actually work? I can't think of one; not even the hard starts like Albania requires it, to my knowledge.

vassal income uses your vassals' vassal income modifier, not your own, it basically means in this patch how much YOU pay to your overlord.

Oh huh. I never would have found that. Seems strange for that to be a game-ruiner though.

No. You can break half of EU4 mechanisms and still have fun or do a world conquest. But that's not the game I'll love playing...

It's just annoying for, say, a Tunisia start or a Kongo start. Your tradepowers are hopelessly overwhelmed by Spain/Portugal and guess what? You can't even embargo them!

Embargo or no, your trade power is hopelessly overwhelmed in those starts anyways. Embargoes reward PP based on the percentage of the trade power you cut from them, so you'll likely get very little, if any, PP from it anyways.

Anyways, I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, just that I find it silly for that to be the reason you're not playing certain starts. But do what you have fun with, and if that means you can't have fun without embargos on certain nations, then so be it.

No, it just makes vassal income a worthless stat. 25% of nothing is still nothing.

Vassal income was always a worthless stat.

Like I'm sure there's wonky builds that stack it and it actually becomes an okay stat then, but for a majority of openers, you have to go out of your way to actually get it to mean anything, both in vassal income stat getting and in having vassals who have high base taxes.

Anyways, I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, just that I find it silly for that to be the reason you're not playing certain starts. But do what you have fun with, and if that means you can't have fun without embargos on certain nations, then so be it.

Actually, the tooltip says I will be able to reduce Portugal's tradepower by 100%. (which actually means I will be able to reduce the multiplier by 1.0, which is still a big deal)
I can definitely have fun. Actually I finished my Tunisia game and got Son of Carthage just fine. But knowing that a few basic mechanism is broken is simply annoying.

Having fun and being very annoyed aren't exactly contradicting. The annoyance keeps me starting another game, but once I start I still have enough fun to finish that game.

Following your argument we can allow Paradox to break Quality, Offensive, Aristocracy, Plutocracy and Defensive and just be fine. Because what? Quantity is good enough for world conquest and all other options are inferior.

Which is something I can't agree with. Even if an option is always suboptimal, that it's broken still makes me highly annoyed...

How about a more important bug, as in that Colonial nations pick Expansion at admin tech 26 at the moment, unless they were formed when the overlord had admin tech 9 or less.
We got by without that for like, half a year before it was added. Most of the time vassals don't colonize even with a colonist anyway.

But the fact that I'm losing 5.5 ducats every month because vassal income is broken is pretty big. Not huge, mind you, just big.

We got by without that for like, half a year before it was added. Most of the time vassals don't colonize even with a colonist anyway.

But the fact that I'm losing 5.5 ducats every month because vassal income is broken is pretty big. Not huge, mind you, just big.
I feel ya, but since I almost only play colonial nations imagine my suprise when I notice that the Colonial nations that I formed haven't advanced their border an inch in half a century. It's just hugely annoying and I know that to my little buddy console when the colonial nations take their Expansion ideas now.
