When Are the Germans Going to Fight Russia?

I've had a relatively boring game thus far. I'm playing as a non-aligned Italy and Germany has so far decided not to go to war with Poland, I so triggered it manually to try and keep things going. But its now July of 1941, when is Germany supposed to fight Russia? Everything else played out historically after I triggered war with Poland. Germany occupies Western Europe and Vichy is created. Are there any other events that have to fire first?

You are actually probably much better off if Germany doesnt attack the SU.

You can probably trigger it by getting the SU to DoW you - perhaps by DoW Persia or Turkey.

I'm not allied with Germany. I still want the Germans to War with SU. Is there a event I can trigger to make this happen? I Know my game is going A-Historical, but I wanted Barbarossa to begin historically.

In order for Germany to attack the SU it must have the equivalent of at least 70% compared to the SU.

Well i guess you could load your last save as Germany, pause right away, declare on the USSr, save, exit and then load back as Italy.

I did this in my Japan game since everyone chickened out of Danzig or war and WWII didn't fire.

I have just made the same experience myself. I am playing as France and have left the Allies. I have gone fascist with deGaulle in charge. My plan was to attack Germany when they launched Barbarossa. Now, the summer of 41 has just passed and no war between Germany and SU.

I wonder what Germany needs to launch Barbarossa? Is it because they dont controll the west? They have finnished Norway and Denmark, but not attacked the low countries (probably because they are not at war with France). Do they also need to controll the Balkans? I wonder what is the main reason why Barbarossa doesnt take place?

GeneralSnus- you're playing a very ahistorical game that probably screwed with the German AI... it's used to a simple path to war with all the various majors. Also, you have Paris and the Germans need Paris if they want any shot at firing BP (which is a long shot as it is... much less total annexation). So I don't think Germany is going to do anything by themselves.

OP- Sounds like you got stuck with a boring and nonaggressive AI too. I would wait a year though... the Soviets will probably pounce on them eventually too.

1943 Soviets will DoW Germany if you want to wait that long. Or just forge an Italian empire in Africa and Indonesia

Will this also happen when you play ahistorical? I mean does it happen if it´s more than a missing barbarossa that makes this game ahistorical?

If you really want a war, you can always load up the game as Germany, declare war on Russia, save, then reload as Italy.

Germany seems to not declare war if Russia has considerably more divisions.
