WheAAR to Go?

So now that the business of Easter is over, I want to take my first crack at an AAR. Problem is, I'm having a little bit of country ADD. The leading idea in my mind is to play Hungary, a country that doesn't seem to get a lot of love, and try to see how much of their glory they can win back while fighting alongside Germany. Playing as either side of the Spanish Civil war is also a blast, though, and I could either play a Nationalist game where Spain joins the Axis and goes imperialist, or a Republican game where Spain joins the Allies or even the Comintern.

Anyone feel like breaking my indecisiveness?

Play as Communist China and take over USA

Bring back the Austro-Hungarian empire then annex Germany for a start, then maybe get Poland and USSR.

You could always try playing as an Allied Switzerland, and see if you can hold back the Germans.

Or:

-One of the minor Chinese Factions

-Start a game as Texas, California or the CSA (Either mod the files, or start a campaign as Germany, and F12 the US surrender event which splits the US into the US, CSA, California, and Texas. Then save, quit, and begin as one of the free nations.) and go for some war on the American continent. I know that the CSA has some good Tech Teams, especially for Doctrines. I had a good time playing as an allied CSA, fighting against the Fascist US and the Axis.

-Albania: Try and stave off Italian invasion.

-Norway: Join Comintern or the Allies, hold off the Germans with your Navy, and bite their forces in the rear when they attack Russia through Finland.

-Philippines: Resist Japan, and go Island Hopping.

-Turkey: Gamble on which side to join, or just try and grab some of the Russian land while they reel from the German onslaught.

Seriously, Hungary seems like it would offer better options on the Eastern front. Where it ultimately matters the most for any Axis country.

Afghanistan if you want a major military challenge. When the Suez is endangered, you can just pop up on Japan's side and try and push your way into India.

Luxembourg is a super-ultra-best power, though, it's too newbish to play as Luxembourg =/ Silly!

The thought of reforming Austria-Hungary was intriguing... Though I tried a test game blowing through it on super-fast to see how badly it would break the game, and sure enough, it's a bad idea. Joined Axis right off the bat, invaded Austria, which got divided nicely between Germany and Hungary. But that made Italy DoW the Axis... Helped Germany invade mainland Italy, but then France and the Allies DoW'd. New Zealand occupied Italy, France overran Germany, and it all just fell apart from there.

Afghanistan is intriguing, and a nation I never thought about -- though at this point I think I'm leaning toward those crazy Hungarians, and trying to play a slightly more historical game (trying to get the Czech partitioning, letting the normal game events run their course and trying to get as powerful as possible within the normal framework)

Sweden, really hard country to play, but when you do good it really feels good man.

You can either ally with the Allies, the Comintern, or the Axis...

Or you might want to ally with your neighbours, Norway, Denmark etc.

The chances of you keeping that alliance with Austria until Anschluss is near impossible. Your safest bet is to invade Austria, but make sure you can defend against Germany. After that, destroy Germany with air force.

IMO, though I have never tried it, is to invade Yugoslavia in 1938 before Austria is annexed by Germany. Then invade Germany when Germany is invading Poland.

I like both of your ideas, but my preference would be Republican Spain in the Comintern.

Well I started a Hungary AAR (Magyar Revival) ... but after that's done, maybe I'll take another shot at Spain, since I've played a ton of games as both Spanish factions and it's a lot of fun.
