What's your pre-game ritual?

Check the boards obsessively from work and home. Call EB Games and Gamespot every day starting on November 17th to check when they'll get the first shipment of the game.

Then, on that magical day after work, run all the way to San Francisco (which is where they usualy get the game first), sit in traffic going across the Bay Bridge, sit in traffic going back to Oakland...and read the manual since I'll probably be too sleepy to play that night.

Ah, one I forgot. Install, play until first CTD and then go to the webpage to get the patch. There's no way I'll have the patience to browse, download and install before I get to try the game.

With my obsession on reading these forums I'll probably have the first patch before I have the game (provided they release one before or on Nov 14th)

You guys are weirdoes. I just get my blunt, and let things go as they wish. Most of my friends know I like video games, and have got used to mindlessly wondering my house if they get bord watching me play, especially when a new one is released. Oh yea a nice bottle of something good to drink is always preferred

remember to prepere the girlfriend for the inevitable: "listen baby, I'm terrible sorry, but I've got this monster of an exam to grade, hundreds of students, so I won't be able to spend much time with you this weekend - gotta work. Maybe you should do something fun with your friends instead?"

Since I am at the war for this game release my schedule will be a bit different.

1) Have my wife mail me the game
2) Wait for a week
3) Get game from mail room on my way to work.
4) Read game manual at work
5) Go back to the metal crate I live in and install game
7) Play game until I have to go back to work the next day.

War is hell, ain't it?

1) Read Manual in bits on drive home

2) Install

3) Check for Patch

4) continue reading manual for at least a page or two

5) Start game

6) Play until I become hugely confused but have an idea in my head of what the game looks like and plays like.

7) Finish reading manual

8) Play again (starting new game, since odds are the first one is horribly wrong).

9) Continue repeating 6 through 8 until I drop over from sleep.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love to read the manual while taking a crapola before I start the game. That way I'll know what I'm doing when I start, and I won't feel "pressured" to stop the game part way through.

Times like this I'm glad I'm unattached. But if I was, I'd spend the next 3 weeks training a ferret to give blowjobs then send the poor cow away on the 17th.

First I would like to say thanks for being over there, you guys are doing a good job, I appreciate it. Second, War certaintly has changed from the days when soldiers had to forage for their food or starve.

My ritual:

1) Check gamestop's website, call if needs be.
2) Travel to mall to purchase as soon as possible.
3) Open box and peruse through manual when at red lights.
4) Get home, grab a snack and something to drink.
5) While installing read manual.
6) After install, install patch if there is one(I come to these boards so often I will know if there is one)
7) Start game and don't stop until my back starts to hurt.

1. Cancel whatever I have planned for the next few days.
2. Read manual while installing game.
3. Try to play game and read manual at the same time to figure out what I'm meant to be doing.
4. Start to feel hungery. Play on.
5. Really hungry, should have ate whiel game installed. Play on.
6.Reach the point where it's either pause and get food or gnaw on own hand. Consider the latter for a moment before deciding both are needed for gameplay. Run to kitchen, grab snacks, run back.
7.Play more.
8.Uh oh, drank too much with meal. Play on though.
9. Ahh! Gotta go! No musy play on!
10. Hey, there's an empty cup on my desk....nah. Run to toilet.
11. Repeat steps 3-10 untill I keel over from lack of sleep.

i see some of you are canceling what you have to do for a few days????? i think this game will be so good, i wont be doing much of anything for a few weeks, months, and god knows how long!

1. go for an innocent walk in the city
2. find places which might have it
3. enter such places
4. explore, study the shelves
5.a find it, take it, take a second => go to the seller, pay both and leave and heat away.
5.b cannot find it => go to the seller, discuss with him his problem and leave the location and restart with step 1.
6. if 5.a is the case, then the very next day I take a break, go to the postoffice and send the second one to my multiplayer socius abroad (promised).

Too true.... I am gonna pull one of those, and say I am gonna be in the hospital for a week and a half (should be a good amount of time for me to settle down with Vicky)

before every paradox game i normaly stop, think for a number of minutes who to play, begin to plan a strategy and map out my plans, then when i go to start i end up picking some other country on an impulse and my 5 minutes are lost

Thanks a ton for the great job you guys are doing over there, everyone in our country has our eyes on Iraq and you guys are in our thoughts every day.

If our guys are getting video games our attrition rate must be pretty low these days in the Iraq and Basra provinces
