What's your biggest fanboy move?

I'm sure the boards are full of "my ex-gf broke up with me because of my HoI-addiction" stories.
I assume that we're all in the same boat here. I got married before HoI 1 came out and each iteration of the series caused a serious strain on the marriage
Needlessly to say, my wife ain't as fond of PDS games as I am.

Which leads me to my biggest fanboy move: Vicky1 and Vicky2 are my favourite games and they lead me to admire Queen Victoria enough to pick her as the name of my daughter. Obviously I didn't fully disclose the reasons of the name to my wife. The sales pitch involved the latin meaning of the name, the royal example, the charming nick Vicky and so forth.
But basically, the name wouldn't have come up without the PDS game. So I'd consider that a pretty hefty fanboy move.

I guess my biggest "fanboy" move is pre-ordering HoI4. Despite some of my most cherished elements having been removed or "simplified". I have hope. I will probably be playing HoI3 at the same time because it is familiar and I have some great games still going on it!

Edit: Clearly some people either dislike HoI3 or dislike that I don't find this game to be successor to it. Sorry I can't be a "yes man".

Gifting HOI3 to friends (despite being tight on money) so they can be hooked and join the great paradoxian family and play happily ever after.

PS: Maybe if I was from a native tribe I could have named my son "Heart of iron' without the social services stepping in.

I'm not sure many are going to top that Seattle! I think my biggest fanboy moment isn't terribly exciting, but would be pre-ordering HoI3 despite being pretty sure it wasn't going to run terribly well for a good six or so months after launch - no-one makes game like PDS do (and I'm a huge fan of the types of games they make, hence pre-ordering them regardless of how stable they're likely to be at launch), but back then, that was a bit of a two-edged sword and they didn't tend to launch pretty. Have to say, I'm very happy with how they roll these days - awesome games that also work on day 1 .

IMHO everyone I see on the youtube or the twitch etc. from any one of their titles seem like really good solid people. They care about the game & the gamer. I can put a face to a name, a personality to the position etc. It is not a game company that hides from their customers. They are their all the time to take the praise and the criticisms with grace and professionalism. Some may not like this or that about the game etc. however to not like the PDS team as people is just so wrong on so many levels.
If every company no matter what they sell/produce/service etc. did what PDS does this would be a much better world.

I imagine trying to name your son Adolf would be much harder. Victoria is a nice name, your daughter is a happy person.

When i saw the threadname i was about to say that i am proud of the fact, that i recruited 5-6 of my friends (they havent played any PDS game before) to play Hoi 4 with me. But after i read the posts i felt like this is nothing in comparison to the love and loyalty of some fans xD

Mine's more than happy to leave me to game as long as I wish, never has gaming ever been a strain on the relationship because of her or otherwise. She just scuttles off to watch TV and keeps herself occupied. >_>

I mean, it would suck if I ever got into a relationship and all she ever did was go "Oh, you're on the computer again, moan, moan, moan." Eh, screw that. Ditto if we have to 'compromise' as in she gets what she wants all the time. That ain't healthy. >_>

In generally I take release dates off work. I have a terrible time focusing on my work on PDS titles release dates, so I rather just take the day off, for my own and my bosses sake However, immensely annoying that time of the release is late afternoon evening :/.

As a Croatian electric engineering student(not much disposable income [or time, at times] heh), i've learned web development(mostly php, *eww*) so that I can get some freelance jobs to afford HOI4. Completed my first one just before exam season.

I took the two days after the release off from work. My girlfriend does sigh when I mention (again) how many days are left until the release of HOI4, but she's seems to take well to the fact she won't be seeing much of me for a while. The desktop wallpaper changes and endless repeats of WoW must have given her some idea of how much I'm looking forward to this so surely she will be aware of how many hours I will be spending on it right?

Yes, I am.
I sold that old Toshiba to my friend(I really don't know what's he did with it) so I don't have to suffer from that infernal heat anymore. I can't remember why I didn't put it on something. Maybe I was just too euphoric.
