Another series of partisan posts

Oh well, the subject has been done to death. For those who believe it realistic, then please provide examples of divisional quantities of armed partisans who operated outside of regular army control or supply, and who engaged divisional sized enemy troops.

South Africa is about the only one during this timeframe, and calling them divisional sized is being extremely generous.
I'm not saying a word, Dins.

bottomline is that we all love the partisans in the game,

the only issue is that 60.000 partisans can jump out of nowhere with morale and organisation AND at full strength EVEN in garrisoned provinces,

I've no objection to 100.000 partisans present in an ungarrisoned province, but they should grow in size and don't jump out of the closet,

so bottomline is we love the 1.03 partisans much more then the 1.02 partisans,

but we'll love them, please stop making these partisan threads! Like Dinsdale said it's been discussed a zillion times,

let's be patient until 1.03 get's here,

Patiently waiting for 1.03 before I play Victoria again, due in large part to the Partisan bug, and the 1% control --> full control insantly bug when any power annexes any other power.

I dont mean to be impolite but:

1) if you are not interested in the topic dont participate, period.

2) English is not my first language...so what ? I know enough english to say: 'get lost' though. ;)

Back on topic, as I said above the partisans spawning in full regular divisions is silly, no arguing over that. The fact that a country has more partisans than regular army doesnt both me, Yugoslavia resistance under Tito anyone ?

As for conquering Java, well I'm talking about BIG countries, its obvious that conquering china as I did -in three years- is unrealistical. And as someone above said, despite my warmongering I have very few issues with partisans; never been an obstacle to puppeting USA, conquering China and gobbling 50% of Tzarist Russia...

The partisans are a "hack". Large and medium sized countries in this era shold be hard to conquer mainly due to supply issues. But there are really no supply rules in Victoria. The partisans functionally substitute for his omission, and add some much needed difficulty to invasions. Not optimal, not really historical, but actually pretty functional from a gameplay standpoint.

yes, but representing them as partisans is completely wrong. Can you imagine anyone invading the southern part of austria, and having tons of people rebel against their "liberation" from the harsh government of austria. Not to mention having the same equipment as a modern trained army ;)

i think that instead of partisans, there should be VERY high rates of attrition if you move too far from your country (supply line problems).

That would also make little sense. I mean, 10-15% ("VERY high") would be complete nonsense. Logistics didn't kill armies, it slowed them down. It sometimes did become a killer, yes, but that wasn't a fact of life.

There were a lot of diseases and stuff, but they decimated both attackers and defenders, so this also wouldn't help in making conquering a nation more difficult and historical.

well, in extreme cases, they DID become killers, as you have said.
and i said that there should be very high attrition IF the armies are too far from your provinces. otherwise, the only thing to stop the foreign army is... the defender's army :).

i think that simply making so many partisans is a very cheap strategy to prevent WC's. paradox should focus on improving the ai, not trying to find easy solutions to such problems (i'm being very harsh, i agree, but this is my opinion).

Agreed: The best way to stimulate supply difficulties is for ORG values to drop the further an army is away from its supply base and also the longer it continuously campaigns.

Mahotsukai.

So....You can tell people to get lost can you? Im now guessing that you have a problem with anyone that does not agree with you, since its obvious you can't handle some thought out criticism of your first idiotic post.

You don't like people 'Whining' about Partisans do you? Well stiff shit mate, as you like to try to tell people, perhaps you should mind your own business and not get involved. But of course taking your own advice just isn't on, oh no.....

Instead of making a thread that targets one group and their opinion, perhaps, in the vein of your reasoning, you should have started a thread that outlined why you enjoyed the current partisan system, instead, all you have done is take a shot at the people you call 'whiners'(who don't share the same opinion as you about something), and then prove to all present that you don't have the ability to take back some well earned criticism by trying to pretend that those who disagree with you were not supposed to get involved in this thread at all.

Very Confusing, i am now wondering why you started this very out of date thread in the first place.

but of course ;) just to soften the argument.

To right Sapper, I was also of a mind to say something along these lines, glad you did.

Okay, this thread has gotten way too out of hand, & as such is closed. Debating the current partisan situation is okay, but attacking other members is not.
