The most frequent sentence I read is: 'I cannot invade China or Russia - or insert a historically impossible to invade country- without zounds of partisans popping everywhere and provinces switching back to their homeland all the time...

I have news for you: nobody said that conquering Russia or China was a walk in the park. Napoleon, Hitler anyone ?

Anyway subduing USA, China or Russia is hard but doable (I've done it myself, WC AAR 1.02 normal/normal to come soon) so you should consider yourself lucky its that hard, because historically it wouldnt be possible :p

Sorry for the rant, but after reading someone complaining about how China beat him as Korea I couldnt resist.. :eek:o

Napolean didn't get killed by partizans in Russia, it was winter.

2nd of all, sometimes I play countries in different threaters and barely notice partizans, like Italy and in NA it was pretty tame, but try Japan, go to war with Korea and youll see the Partizans fly.

Partizans not militia, not rebels "although close" did not turn wars, if they did it was a small war. Remember partizans were usually only armed with what they had, while in this they come out as regulars with same techs. I dont remember any large wars that were won because of Partizans. Especially in this time era. Partizans have ruined a few of my games, AI gets fully armed partizans, yet when I get them I get 200 troops and that almost never happens.

Partizans are annoying and stupid. They were annoying in 1.01, but they didn't kill. Plus theirs a bug which I never noticed till I played US, the CSA had partizans that retook provinces in like 5 days. Itd go 1% then a day or 2 later itd be captured.

Anyways they are annoying, simple as that, for some countries it ruins them. I dont mind the odd partizans comming up, but I dont like how they stay around after the war, and I dont like how they spawn so frequently.

Well winter and crazy ass russian tactics of scorched earth tactics. Then from reading a small thing, when Napolean ran away, Russian cossacks would mow them down. Anyways, I think Napolean only had rebellions in Spain.

Also whats the diff between a partizan and a rebel? Is it a partizan is under occupied territory, while a rebel rises up against its government?

Take a look at his supply position. A thin line from Moscow to the Polish border and a huge army to feed. Even in summer, he would have had to abandon Moscow. But this is OT.

Yep. :)

it should be IMPOSSIBLE to train 10k regulars in a province conquered by another country.

and it should be more than impossible to train them in a province that's both captured AND has a garrison of 30k troops.

so, you see why we "whine" now?

What is up? Let me draw an illustration. I am Brazil, but I can't industrialize yet, so I decide to busy myself by conquering Paraguay. I have two full sized divisions, they have one. I defeat them, and are beating them quite badly, until suddenly the partisans start popping up, and I am outnumbered 2:1, even though that was the advantage I held at the DoW. This is utterly rediculous and annoying.

Trying to invade Korea as Japan ? Did it, quite easy in particular when considering its small territory (or maybe I'm too used to china/usa/russia !?)

Partisans spawning at 10k, regulars (kinda stupid considering they are irregulars by definition) and stay around after war is stupid, no arguing with that. However I still think that invading the huge countries is too easy, and certainely not as hard as many whiners say.

For the rest, I have noticed the 1%-2% => control 'bug' but always roleplayed it as a sudden revolutionary burst, you wouldnt believe how many times China escaped annexation with this trick, but when I was done, I noticed that it still took less than 3 years ! 3 years to conquer 450 millions people + one of biggest territories, think of it !

Personally i'm only annoyed by the partisans in the super-populated countries. That said, why call the people who don't enjoy them, whiners ? What is served by that ? Partisans are obviously not entirely WAD, as its already been stated that they'll be changed in the next patch.

I am sorry... I am in a different camp on this one. Invading a country with 2 divisions is a bit of a stretch.

For some reason, I've had very limited issues with partisans in this game despite all my constant warmongering.

I posted this else where so i might as well post it here...

"Partisans are a pain in the bum, but with some planning(the horror, you mean i need to plan!), they are not a problem. In fact it takes them literally forever to take control of a province. A small dragoon army, or hussar cav of 20 to 30k can patrol 4-5 provinces, following your conquering army. You can also set way point with shift and have them patrol whatever pattern you set up. I have em running around in circles for quite a long time without having to issue any commands after setting them in motion. To compliment my tireless cavlary i have regular divs garrisoning here and there. They hold the fort until the cav get there to crush those pesky partisans.

Historically, I dont know of any newly conquerd land/country, ever not needing garrisons to control the subdued population. Im shure there are always the "Exception to the rule", but i think you get my drift. People dont like being conquered. If you are apoor nation and only have a small army of regulars then build "irregulars" to garrison conquered land.

On a last note, i see the partisans ripping into the computer as well so it doesnt really make it unfair since all sides have to deal with it.

Another series of partisan posts

Oh well, the subject has been done to death. For those who believe it realistic, then please provide examples of divisional quantities of armed partisans who operated outside of regular army control or supply, and who engaged divisional sized enemy troops.

South Africa is about the only one during this timeframe, and calling them divisional sized is being extremely generous.

I don't mind the concept of Partisians. What I do mind is when full strength divisions of regulars pop up immediately and don't stop popping up. Seeing 100k partisians pop up on a small pacific island is kinda strange. Conversly it never seems to happen for me when I get invaded. I wouldn't mind having my own army of liberation, but I don't get squat in the way of partisians in my occupied territory.

I almost never see much of partisans. They only become a problem if you have occupied large territories for years, and i think that quit historical. They shouldn't arise as regulars though.

The biggest problem with partisans/rebels is that often they by far outnumber their country's proper army.

For gods sake.....

So it continues....the old Chestnut is burning once again

If you like Partisans so much, then please, keep playing while the rest of us 'whiners' post.

Happy hunting!

Edit: Just read the Title again 'whats up with the Partisans whining'

Yes, we could be Partisans, a hell of a lot of us pop up from anywhere, fully equipped to 'whine' upon creation.
