I just fought a five year war to gain the throne of France, fought dozens of battles, yet captured not a single noble. Are captures disabled in 1.07? Anyone else have this problem?

nobles now lead their armies MUCH less(which is better, as first whole realms would be thrown into regencies by a single battle)often, and there are thus also much less nobles to capture(though ti is a BIT overdone).

I find this change somewhat annoying. Now you have to handpick your commanders ALL THE TIME. In 1.06b there were three people assigned by default taken from the combined armies (if possible). If the commanders were crappy ones or if it was an important battle I quickly reassigned new ones.
In 1.07 I have to handpick them always or use none at all.

I don't think the change is that bad, but my king still leads my troops everytime which is annoying. And there should be a warning if you have a stack of let's say at least 15% your total levie size without three leaders.

I just miss the cash.

Me too. I've paid for many an Iberian campaign with ransom money made from Mayors and nobles captured in huge battles. Deciding the fate of captured lords was also one of the more satisfying things about CK 2 and there was some strategy behind it as you could throw a realm into chaos by killing their captured Duke or King putting a minor on throne or opting to just take the ransom. I also liked having a dungeon full of captives to release when I need some extra approval. I haven't had a chance to play LOR much so I'll have to see for myself if there is a huge difference.

I agree that captures were a little too excessive but I've completely wiped out armies with nobles leading them and a few months later those same nobles are leading armies against me again. If they are leading then they should be capturable. They and more are certainly killable as I've lost a number of nobles to killed in battle.

Nobles should be leading their levies. Maybe make them less likely to be captured but its turned down way too much right now.

Well, at least you don't get 5 random mayors from a single battle. And most of people above mayor tier didn't have the gold to ransom themselves, leading to ridiculous situations like gifting him to get him to ransom himself...

Well....5 Mayors still amounts to 125 gold and I can think of a few uses for that.:)

Yeah vassal levies have no generals by default. Has to be a bug.

So there usually isn't anyone to capture and every time you mass your levies you have to assign dozens of generals. Annoying.

Not to mention the problem with auto generated retinue generals.

Seems like generals need a hot fix

Count and higher levies seem to have no leaders by default, and the creation of a retinue spawns a new courtier with martial focus, two things I find annoying in 1.07. I think that all levies should have the same leaders they used to have, and that there is now finally a reason to invite a noble to court, to lead your retinues. Perhaps, as I've seen in some mods, a decision to invite a knight to court for said job.

I do agree with you. I do not understand why they "fixed" something that was fine. And beside it was good for gameplay, it is also historicly accurate. So really, why!?

Please put it back PI.

Personally I would prefer going back to how levies used to be, prior to 1.07, and keeping retinues. Just don't auto generate leaders for retinues. Probably hoping for too much but, anyone know of any config setting to switch levies back? :(

Or the setting for capture noble chance?
