^well the kriegsmarine did get one of they larger ships through the channel (i can't remember the name of it though), and the royal navy didn't notice AT ALL.

Btw amazing screen shot, it looks pretty cool, would aircraft have the same type of kill list as the ships?

Actually - TWO ships; the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau made the famous "Channel Dash" to get back to Kiel from St. Nazaire. The Brits DID notice, but they were out of position - completely surprised by the audacity of it. They launched some Swordfish attacks that were suicidal, and the Nazis got a propaganda coup. They didn't try it again, though.

Wow yes, very impressed.

As far as ships sunk being kept track of by the unit. That's a great idea! I hope it will also be incorporated into the ledger so that even if your ship is sunk, it will still remember that your ship had sunk enemy ships. (Like on the ledger it will still show your ship but note that it's sunk and that's why you can't find it anymore).

I wonder if battles in HOI2 will be different from a stack is meeting another stack. In reality not all ships of a fleet saw action - same goes for land units, but perhaps the issue was the worst for fleets,

I'd like to know if the new ship feature has any affect other then some kind of naval trophy list? Also it seems Japan and the UK have the same infantry sprites (for now, I guess) and the lack of the Channel Islands. But I digress, great job Johan! :D

Very excited to hear about the Transport Capacity, and also the potential for ship vs. ship engagements, rather than stack-stack. Really hoping that the Eastern Front has many more (smaller) provinces, for maneuvering sake. Any chance we could get an East Front shot, say around Kiev or Moscow?

Pretty please? :D
i agree, i find it very difficult to do encirclements in those large eastern provinces.

Oh, like Germany could just park a fleet off the coast of England - how ahistorical ;)

But seriously, this looks great. I really like the graphics on the ship sprite, you can see individual guns. And if I'm not mistaken there is a bar on the ship info screen that shows how much fuel that ship has left. (Two bars next to the picture of Gneisenau, one I assume being strength and the green one, since it has an oil drop under it, I am guessing is fuel). Also I see that the time/date seems to be a button -probably the pause button, hopefully big enough that I don't miss it when I am trying desperately to pause the game.

I think the two bars depict strength/org, while the drop of oil shows if the naval base is in supply, so judging from the screenie no change form Hoi 1 so far. :)

Very cool screenie. The resources and TC thing look very promising.

It's because it's an alpha and the position of all the ports hasn't been finished yet

maybe it could be changed to a famous landmark of the city it represents

We got BC, CA, CL in Hoi2. just that the scenario-scripters have not been through and tweaked all models/classes yet.

You wouldn't mind telling us what exactly battlecruiser represents in HoI 2, would you?

Are you going with the traditional WWI era defination, ie. lightly armoured battleship? Like the Kongo, Renown and Alaska classes during WW2 (of which only Renown was a BC). The never compleated American Lexington class BCs would have also belonged here.

And what about the newer defination, the lightly armed battleship? Like the Dunkerque or Gneisenau classes during WW2 (again, only Dunkerque was actually a BC). The planned Soviet Kronshtadt class BCs would have also belonged here.

Or maybe you are going with the fast battleships defination? Ie. the ship was fast by simply being big. The BC Hood and the BB classes of Iowa, Littorio and even Bismarck would fall under this. The never compleated Japanese Amagi class BCs would have also belonged here.

As it was no longer compleately clear what could be called a battlecruiser, I'm just curious which defination you are going to choose (betting my money on the first one).

Also, how exactly are the CA and the CL going to differ? Are CLs better against lighter targets and in places where battles happen over shorter distances (during night or in cramped waters like the Solomons, a theathre which the USN left near compleately to CLs in '43 because of this)? And are CAs in turn better against heavier targets and in more open waters (or during good wheather)?
