After I had gotten a very basic understanding of wth I was doing, I decided to try out a game as Muscovy<Russia. I figured it would be pretty easy and a good learning experience in terms of land battles. I actually managed to do very well for myself and conquered all of modern day Russia plus lots of other lands in Europe and Asia. The only problem was that in the process I wasn't doing things that anyone close to a veteran would no to do. I had made a couple mistakes like getting trounced by the Ottomans over Crimea but it was all the smaller things that I didn't do that killed me. For one I didn't do anything about minimizing my stability cost. I had the overextension modifier and it was taking me 20 years just to go up 1 stability. The second problem, infamy, also contributed to this as I was getting stability hits for going over the infamy limit. In the process of taking over all that land, I had raked up well around 120 infamy or something like that. I had 15 percent revolt risk in a bunch of my provinces and had to devote my entire army to putting down rebels. The third problem was my war weariness. I had been constantly at war and my war weariness was at 20 and also contributed to lots of problems. Despite all of this though, I still managed to survive. The only reason I quit was because I was so tired of chasing down rebels.

Magna Mundi, as Sweden.
White-peaced out of war with Denmark-Norway. Managed to grab various lands from them, all my cores. Allied with Muscovy, because Denmark was allied with Novgorod. Got into giant war with Muscovy against Poland, who ate the Baltic states. White-peaced out of that, after a while. Russia formed, and allied with Denmark. I was proud that I remembered to declare war when Denmark inherited Norway though. At first I was like "oooh noooo" but then I realized that all of Norways armies were disbanded, leaving only the Danish army. Defeated them.
Turned Protestant. Fought several civil wars, especially against the stubbornly catholic Finns. Attacked whoever owned the Baltic at that point, took Baltic provinces. Had to sign away lots of priveliges or risk war with all of Europe at once. Got invaded by Russia and Denmark repeatedly. Failed.

Every single game I've started with Poland since the last patch was released. The new enhanced super mongols make you feel like if you were a one province minor. Horrible feeling I dare say.

You're not actually supposed to beat the Hordes into the ground right at the start, FYI. They fall apart on their own after a while and until then you peace out or pay tribute. The era of Hordes isn't quite over at the game's start. :)

My worst game ever was as the Ottomans. I never realized how unlucky and badly positioned the Ottomans were until then.

For one thing, I had to deal with the Timurids and Qara Qoyunlu simultaneously, and it took a lot of bloodshed before they would accept a concession of defeat from me.

For another thing, France kept using me as a punching bag. They were Defender of the Faith for a long time, so they got a free Holy War CB on me and kept DoWing me, landing 20k stacks on my shores. I wasn't able to stop them at sea because my economy was too weak to support any sort of respectable navy. It was either a big army or a big navy; I was simply not able to support both. Anyways, in the first few wars, I was able to barely hold France back by combining all my troops into a few huge 40-50k doomstacks and going around crushing their stacks, which never got any bigger than 20k. This was back when my land tech was only slightly behind theirs. And even after running around crushing their stacks over and over again, I still had to pay them to get them off my back. And even that small amount of luck eventually ran out. By the time they had guns, even 50k troops struggled against 20k of theirs, and only after I was extremely war exhausted would they accept money.

And to top it all off--and this was the most frustrating thing of all--I kept getting stab hit events over and over and over and over and over again. Comet after comet after comet. Political crisis after political crisis after political crisis. I wasted soooo much money on regaining stability that, ironically, I was technologically behind the other Muslim nations, even with their worse tech group. This was really what pushed me over the edge. By the time all the other Muslim countries had guns and I didn't, I ragequit.

Haven't played too many games, so been lucky to not have too many terrible ones (yet, I'm working on it). My worse moment was, well my first game with Castille. It was HttT. I took forever to get Aragon, including (i think) starting a no CB war against them once. I tried to take over Morocco and got stomped by them, but luckily didn't take too bad of a hit. The biggest problem was I colonized like crazy, and come the reformation...I had to spend at least 20 years fighting rebels across all of South America, getting pissed off about 100 times.

Not the worse story, but it was terrible for me (which is probably a good sign?)

I once played ENG and suffered a series of incredible and utter defeats. First of all, The game started with DEN inheriting both SWE and NOR, then FRA and BUR allied against me.
My army was annihilitated 6 times in a single war - three times in a row in battle by several "0 vs 9" like rolls, 2 times by spawning rebels and one time by Denmark sinking my last ships (Yes, the navy was also destroyed in a series of abbyssmal battle).

In the end, I had to cede most of my territory and was annexed by Denmark.
And the worst thing: That wasn't even one of my newbee games. It was just... So full of FAIL that is was awkward...

Reminds me when I fought France and their kings were MIL 8, MIL 7, MIL 9 for an entire century. I broke them up already but I couldn't cope with those dudes and my smallish defensive undrilled army so they managed to reconquer pretty much whole France back for themselves, annex Lorraine, Brittany and Aragon and even Milan.

I had to wait till a MIL 3 ruler came to power and lost all his father, grandfather and grand grandfather have achieved.

Then again, it was quite enjoyable. Maybe Ai should get default +3 to MIL?

i have a love hate relationship with my Syria game.
started in 1399 as a vassal of mamalukes, and being on the border with timurids i was the buffer state and did all the fighting for my overlords while they sat in Cairo and sipped cool drinks and sent the occasional 1000 men to die in the Syrian desert while i wasted all my manpower fighting back the pinkish/red menace. By 1450 I decided that in reward for keeping the Timurids out of the middle east i deserved to become my own country so cancelled the vassilation from Mamelukes and then slowly fought back Jalayrids and gained access to the Indian Ocean at Basra. Took Jeuda and other provinces from Mamelukes in a war and now it's got a point where Ottomans, Egypt, Me and Persia are all sitting there looking at each other with wary eyes. Gone over BB a few times and been used as a punchbag by France and Castille and had to empty my treasury several times to end the war. Endless tribal succession wars have crippled me and i'm miles behind everyone else in terms of tech. The game has followed a pattern of every time i get a string of good luck the game slaps me in the face and breaks me down again.

Maybe my ming game back with IN, I attempted a World conquest without westernizing. After destroying Europe, and many thousands of rebels stacks I was approaching the end game with only a dozen opm remaning, then I realised I did not have enough stability in reserve to declare war on the last few OPM. Think I got stuck with 3 hindu OPM which I could not declare war on... Many simple mistakes caught up with me in the end.

My first game I played was with England. I lost all my possessions on the mainland pretty early, but being England I did last for quite a while. I didn't know that you weren't supposed to mint and to live off your annual income. I just saw that I was losing money each month, and usually in a game that is a bad thing. So I minted like crazy and before I knew it I had inflation up to 50%. Eventually my economy was such a mess that I couldn't stop France from invading me and once they got past the wooden wall and on to the island it was over for the poor old English.

I've had some pretty terrible games before, but just now finished my absolute worst yet. Not even able to ragequit because it ended so horribly and quickly. Transylvania, first mission "build an army", easy enough. Right as I finish that I get "improve our prestige" and notice that Budjak is now in Golden Horde hands, suddenly I have all out war falling on my head with no way to peace out or offer tribute because I am still Hungary's vassal. A couple years go by, doomstacks everywhere, then Hungary admits its defeat at Horde hands and releases me as an independent nation. Ecstatic that I got out of that far earlier than expected, I set my eyes on my neighbor Wallachia, build one extra regiment, then watch it get absorbed by the Horde before I can make my DoW. Disappointed, I turn towards what is left of Moldavia only to watch the same occur there, just in time for the truce to run out and 40+ regiments pour across the border after they stomp the Ottomans into submission. Both my provinces get occupied, my mighty 5-regiment army annihilated, and Hungary dissolves our alliance to avoid losing any land to the Mongolian Nightmare. I promptly spend the next year or so unable to do anything but wait to be annexed, as -100% warscore means they will not even consider an offer of tribute or concession of defeat. By 1416, Transylvania ceased to exist.

Worst game actually went reasonably okay. HTTT I believe - Started as Leinster, gradually united Ireland - so England hated me - and went the trade/colonisation route. Generally quite successfully, though in my case because I was a late starter, colonisation meant "Sending an army to North America and steal it from Portugal". So Portugal hated me. I converted to Reformed - so the Pope hated me. I got in more colonial wars in America so wound up with France and Spain hating me. Now I was doing well, I had a very strong navy so I was next to immune from the landlubbers, but every 5 years on the dot war declarations would roll in and World War 23 would kick off with fighting raging from North America, South America, Africa (Oh yeah, Africa was a huge hotspot), and increasingly in the Pacific/India. And very infuriatingly, Id win (hard to lose when you live on an island, have a huge navy and can project local superiority to any given colonial area whilst blockading the homelands) - and naturally enough take their colonies so they couldnt sit 20K doomstacs near my colonies for the next war . So theyd all still hate me. And I lacked the manpower, or the interest, in being able to land on the continent to fight armies the size of France or even Spain. So 5 years later it would kick off again.

And in the meantime, trading became rather difficult. Bad boy trader doesnt really work out well.

Just got very boring, so I stopped that game.
