I remember watching this site for weeks waiting for the release of the original EU. Waiting for IN has been something like that. I haven't been a big fan of EU3, but IN really addresses all my serious complaints and adds a ton of new features. I'm very impressed.

As Castile, I have taken 5 provinces so far, 2 from Grenada and 3 from Morocco. Feels like the war system is much better now.

I am wondering about offering vasalization now. I have 200 relations with both Portugal and Aragon, am allied with both, but the chances are Impossible. Is there somethign new to this that I am missing?

Portugal and Aragon are both big players and won't be bullied by a country more or less of the same importance. You'll have to grow considerably or they'll have to shrink, then chances will prolly rise.

IN is superb and I am having lots of fun. Since everyone has talked about what they thought was good maybe I can say some things that I think needs to be adjusted abit. I have played 25 years now as Castille and I haven't changed any options at the start. I have conquered Granada, Morocco, Algiers and Tunisia so far and converted those territories to Catholic. It usually takes about 10 years at maximum to change religion in a province and I have waaayyyy more money then I can spend so immediatly when I conquer a province I send a missionary there. Almost the whole of N Africa is now Catholics. Also stability... I reached stab 3 during the first years and I have been there ever since.

All this will be fine tuned I am sure. I am very impressed with all the new features, each and everyone of them adds to the gameplay! :)

At first, but once you get your patrols just right, they go away.

Strangely, I wasn't having problems until I hit the new world with colonies. It kind of just exploded. Now I've got it under control, though.

Pirates don't really appear untill the pirates reach a certain tech level. 7 IIRC.

An excellent addon. All the new features are great, and work pretty much as intended. I especially like the peace treaty AI tweaks. My only reservation? I wish they could have taken the start date back even further, perhaps another 100 years.

I know it's not quite the same as countries won't be historically set up etc, but if it's just longer games you're after you can just open up common/defines.txt and change:
Code:
start_date = {
	year=1399
	month=9
	day=13
}

end_date = {
	year=1821
	month=1
	day=1
}
to whatever you want.

I was quite suprised to see the Byzantine Empire revolting from the Ottoman Empire, reconquering all of Greece and taking Serbia, Kosovo and Rhodes. All of the Ottoman Empire, except one province, has now been taken by Ottoman peasants. Going more east: Syria had declared itself independent, then conquered all of land of the Mameluks.

To me, it's an excellent expansion, adressing all of my griefs. Congrats!

On Lithuania in "In Nomine": I'm yet to find out, did Paradox actually had not enough facts, or they were having fun and ridiculed my country as much as they could. When I loaded the game, it was hard to find a thing that was not made wrong. To give an example of to what extent this was was made- lets take one province and have a look- Samogitia:
1) Wrong culture
2) Wrong religion
3) No revolt risk in 1399, even if TO acquired it from Lithuania in 1398. Historically it revolted to Lithuania, afaik, 3 times in these 10 years.
4) Province doesn't reach the sea
5) In Lithuanian mission, task is "conquer Samogitia"- which is Lithuanian and dear land, and lost 1 year before 1399 game start. However, for Smolensk, which is unaccepted Russian culture, it is "reclaim Smolensk".

And this is just one province, and this kind of nonsense is everywhere. Wrong ruler, wrong ruler name, wrong sliders, wrong diplomatic history, ahistorical missions etc. etc. I checked the files- Vytautas the Great has military rating of 3. Now what I have to check, is if Napoleon has good military rating, or does he also has 3.
I was so angry I was actuality thinking of throwing the game away. Still, the reasonable thing is to post to bug report forum, and see what happens.

Also, I'm having some glitches with mouse pointer basically dissapearing, and had computer totally freeze 2 times in ~5 hours of playtime. No other game, including EU3 or EU3:NA ever gave me any freeze-ups, so if this continues I'll get to report this too.

I love it. :D The game has a much more historical feel. I think the biggest improvement is the importance of large strong navies if you want a colonial empire. It just make so much more sense.

the rebels are really great now, in my game styria declared independance from austria, thus causing austria's remaining 3 provinces to be taken over by poland, and later styria diplo-annexed by muscowy :rofl:
the ai really does not know when to end missions some time though.. castille has had 'no truce with the moors' for over a hundred years and they wont go and conquer granada since its my vassal, overall though the game is awesome, really really awesome.

IN is excellent. At first, the sight of the Timurids had me rolling my and worrying about blobbing. I was pleasantly surprised to see that rebels can be a serious threat. Both Iraq and Syria have declared independence. Ming is still a juggernaut in the east though. I was hoping Paradox would toned them down.

Overall, the game is much more dynamic. I've found myself thinking "Awesome, I can't believe that happened" a few times.

From my observation, the AI plays like MMG but without the flavor events.

Or rather the AI with the goals seems to act in a more realistic or probable way.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to install MMP when it comes out.

I'm liking it so far except, after playing about 75 years as Castille, I am now starting to experience the pirate spam that others have mentioned. Not exactly sure how the patrolling works (my own fault, I'm sure it's somewhere in the manual) but I really need to get that going. Right now all I am doing is chasing pirates around. So that's my only complaint; something that, from what I understand, is working as designed and I just haven't mastered yet. LOL!

The pirate spam is fairly easy to deal with. Here are the steps I use.

1. Use a large fleet to destroy the pirates that are present.
2. Separate that fleet into several smaller fleets to send on patrols.
3. I don't have any fleet patrol more than 4 sea zones so that I can insure that all the zones I care about are "recently patrolled" at all times .
4. No more pirates on your shores.

If you hover the mouse over a sea province it should tell you if it has been partolled or not. This will allow you to judge how many patrolls you need to keep pirates in check.

I should be the one that is pissed. My home state is still white so all the sliders are off, there is no culture, it doesn't even have any type of ruler or government, and there are virtually no revolts!!! I am definitely going to report Paradox.
