An excellent addon. All the new features are great, and work pretty much as intended. I especially like the peace treaty AI tweaks. My only reservation? I wish they could have taken the start date back even further, perhaps another 100 years.
I'm pretty sure that 1299 would require new graphics for units and such.

Awesome. You have to deal with pirates and rebels much more seriously, and the AI has improved vastly. They can actually make clever naval landings, and regroup to make a bigger push into enemy territory. Not to mention the peace system, thank god for that. Now when I make peace deals I know whether I'll get it in advance, and the AI is much more reasonable.

I could go on, but there's so many brilliant things that improve the game, I couldn't list them.

I find having pirates emerge what seems like every month on my Labrador coast abit annoying. Micromanaging my patrols so my ships dont sink do to lack of repairs from constantly killing pirates is abit much. I guess pirates really want my fish.

edit- nope, take that back, pirates attack around 3-4 times a month on the coast along northeast Canada..

I can't wait to get home from work and get stuck into this :)

I did a quick start with the OE last night in 1399 - its not as easy as some might think, you start at war with Timurids and two other countries - and then half of the Balkans declared war on me before I could catch my breath. It wasn't pretty, but I've been out of EU3 practise for a while so I'm sure I'll be able to figure out the required exploits to get a leg up on the AI :D

They annoyed me to no end as well, but I managed to set patrols along my coasts with no real issue. If you've colonised the area you won't get any attrition anyway, and I made sure I set the patrol to go back to port anyway. (I'm not sure if it actually helps, but I'll have to see)

I set my patrols to go from one port to another, however, if you dont have your ships in port when the month turns over to the next, you dont get repairs. So, my ships usually get non-stop damage from the non-stop pirate attacks. The manual says pirates dont attack waters that were just frequented by your ships, however, I've had multiple occasions where my ship leaves Bay ofFundy to an adjacent water zone, fights pirates there only to have pirates spawn at the zone I just left..

Changed my patrol slightly, and the pirates haven't attacked in a few years, sorta funny, without the slight change I was having probably 20-30 attacks a year. Guess I gotta play around with the patrols.

Wow, there are just so many extra things in this addon that even I can notice (as someone who didn't play EU3 as much as other PI titles) Everything about this addon has breathed a life into the game that's given it a whole new feel.

I thought the missions would be pre-coded for the major nations, but a lot of them seem dynamic and exist for even the smaller countries I've tried. They really give a sense of direction to my play style.

The fact that you can see which countries are considered rivals, which missions that country is pursuing, etc, is so cool

Everything else too, the decisions, the naval patrols and time since last patrol affecting piracy, the changes to the combat mechanics.. and that's just the tip of the iceberg!! Tremendous job! :)

You need to patrol your waters more. When done right, it prevents the spawning of new pirates. ;)

Not sure, I wonder if new 1k colonies have a certain period of higher pirate attacks, I changed my patrol by fundy bay and have had significantly less pirate attacks by Greenland for some reason. Either way, its not bothering me now so eh.

Haven't got that far yet, is it bad?

At first, but once you get your patrols just right, they go away.

Strangely, I wasn't having problems until I hit the new world with colonies. It kind of just exploded. Now I've got it under control, though.

Having played for an hour or so, I am very impressed. Already seen some much more sensible decision making by the AI and also some interesting rebel activity. A big thumbs up from me!

THIS is the EU3 I've always wanted. I bought EU3 and found it.. lacking. The ping-ponging was actually the thing that killed my interest for it. Played NA at a friend to see if it was worth the money (which I actually think it is) but as the ping-ponging still existed it was a no-go for me. Watched the forums here whenever there was a sneak-peak of IN and those kindled my interest for EU3 again. Ah, sorry about the little introductionary rant, lets get down to business:

With the updated battle-system I can finally stop having international "you're it!" races with my soldiers. I started out as Castille and after just an hour or so of playing (and 4 ingame years) I've already fallen in love with IN.

The missions.. wow! Great incentive! Even better is that I don't have to go online and check a wiki to see what triggers events, it's all there on the screen. Marvelous. The religious stuff.. Amen! The removal of the stability hit when changing a slider.. finally! Sure, this is just superficial stuff and nothing of the more internal things of the engine or changed rules etc, but if these things are worth ponying up 60 Euro for the whole EU3 shebang (Although.. I own a CD of EU3 but I bought it again through Gamersgate just to show the Paradox guys my support for the great products they do. Will probably do the same with HOI2 and Vicky later on. Just wanted to mention it for the ones complaining about "being expensive" in another thread. Where I live, one new game without any expansion costs around 60 Euro..) then imagine how darned great the rest of the stuff I haven't touched yet must be. :D

My impressions: overall quite good. Rebels are the biggest change. In fact I'd say that rebels rather than badboy are now your biggest obstacle to expansion. Which is as it should be.

There are some issues, mostly play balancing related. The inflation lowering advisors are overpowered for large countries early in the game for example.
