What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen the AI do in a game?

I agree with the Spain not colonizing comment. Nothing quite like getting to the New World in the 1530's with your first explorer, and finding a couple English Trading Posts - and nothing else. (Portugal had earlier been annexed by Castile so there were no Portugese colonies either).

Other than that it would be the Holstein Empire running from Antyla to Samaria. No idea how the Northerners even became involved in the Levant in the first place, much less how the managed to take Teke, Karaman, and portions of the Mameluke territory.

I was playing Napoleon's ambition as France and was allied with the U.S.
As I was conquering Prussia I found that the U.S. had already made peace with Prussia and taken Danzig and a neighboring province in the peace agreement. I really hadn't expected the U.S. to be that agressive or successful on the European front. The other odd thing in the same game is that Napoleon is replaced as monarch in 1814 and continues to be a French general. I suspect that the Bourbon Kings were probably not that trusting of his presence in real life.

In my current game as Spain in the Grand Campaign, France got back all his core provinces (Britanny included), conquered (half of them diplomatically) Ireland, Scotland, half of England provinces, Netherlands core provinces, Flanders, Brabant, Luxembourg and Navarra... Their vassals are Palatinat (Mainz included), Baden, Switzerland and Milan...

I just find it generally weird how easily the leaders die in a battle--Are they like the first ones to charge the enemy, or what?

Yes that really sucks. My leaders have a nasty tendency to die at sieges which in all probably would be the most safe sort of battle for a leader. I´m having a bit of difficulty seeing the general standing with a ladder at the front of the army and then leading the charge. Well unless he happened to be Alexander III but that is a bit outside the game time period.

Two swedish warriorkings, died like men, with their boots on (although I think Gustav was stripped of his before actual death, or was it after? I forget, I forget again...)

Yeah, at least they didn't die right on their first battles like my leaders do... Though my leaders are men, they're not very talented ones...

Charles was probably shot by his own and Gustav II Adolph, well that was several events that together had a bad outcome. Well the point is that relatively few of the time died in battle. Take all the other great leaders Sweden get at the time of the thirty years war. None of them died in battle.

How about this one for weirdos : Castille annexes Portugal early on. Many years pass, Castille becomes Spain and annxes Aragon. So, one day, revolts in Spain and Portugal goes indy, in the following war they gobble up ALL of the Iberian Peninsula, except for Madrid. Don't mess with Portugal.

Burgundy got all of Ireland, except Ulster, which was Scottish... Then England annexed Scotland, Ulster revolts and then the rest of "Burgundian" Ireland joins in.... Back to Eire by the end of the game.

Silly maybe, if we look from the historical side.
But looking from a position of a clever man, Lithuania has better chances to annex Poland than the other way. The EU engine cannot simulate the things that happened in real history.
