In the games I've played, Denmark has always been the agressor, declaring war on the biggest bad boy no matter where he is located, as long as they have him on the map. The aggressiveness of the Danish ai should be lowered quite a bit.

oh yeah,,,same game around 1500...austria has politically annexed/inherited hungary and has vassallized castille and bohemia.

It's supposed to happen- happened historically.

Pskov's revolving faith

I just saw something funny. Somehow Pskov got themselves involved in two wars. Don't know how, I'm playing Castille, so I'm hardly following events up there too closely.

Anyway...this is what I saw...

October 2, 1423 : Pskov accepted peace with Teutonic Order on the following terms : Pskov pays 21$ in indemnities. Pskov has to change religion.
October 18, 1423 : Pskov accepted peace with Novgorod on the following terms : Pskov pays 84$ in indemnities. Pskov has to change religion.

Made me smirk...I wonder what the Teutonic Order thinks of that second peace settlement

Let's see, Castille turned down the option to be renamed Spain. And, perhaps as a result, the only Iberian presence in the America's is a few Portugese colonies in Brazil.

Sweden Diplo-Annexed Lithuania, giving them quite a large continental empire.

Europe as a whole, is consolodated quite nicely. Only a handful of countries are left.

Cromwell was splitting his time ruling both the Puritans and England.

More weirdness...

I continued my Saxony game last night to 1500 and it gets a little more unusual with the passing years. As expected in light of the commentary regarding the sucky Turk AI, the Ottomans were finally eliminated and are now Serbians. (BTW, I don't remember the 1419 setup. Is it right that the Ottomans have their capital in Greece?)
Meanwhile, the Byzantines are healthy as a horse. Still control Constantinople and the west coast of the Black Sea.

Going forward, it seems that the Spanish have indeed landed in America because they've gone to war with the Mayans and brought Aragon (still an independent vassal) with them. The kicker is I think that some eastern European nation also joined in the fray as well.

Other oddball-ish items...
Poland continues to be the great unifier of the German peoples as they vassalized and then annexed Hannover and Mecklemburg, giving the Poles a nice collar of provinces around the Jutland. (I've also noted that vassalization has picked up considerably in recent years as countries I've been looking to vassalize have already been vassalized by someone else)

Muscowy will not be the leader of the Russians this game as they're down to one province, surrounded by bigger and stronger Novgorod and Lithuania (it'll just slay the Lithuanians of 1500 to know that they'll be this tiny Baltic nation by 1900, considering they control most of what will eventually be European Russia).

Ireland still hangs on to its great overseas possession of Smyrna.

Tripoli threw off the British yoke only to get swallowed up by Algeria a few years later.

Oh yeah, Scotland I think is a vassal of France. Payback for the Brits still holding on to large chunks of the French countryside, I suppose.

In my current game Bohemia has annexed Austria, Bavaria, Saxony and Pomern. Poland has Walachia, Moldova, Serbia, Albania, Greece and Milan. Venice pretty much took down the Ottomans, and has most of their lands. Sweden has also expanded large at the expense of both the Danes and Russians.

France is still a patch-work mess. I'm playing as Spain, watching, waiting for France, England and Burgundy to start ripping themselves to shreds. But, except for a few distant wars in the Black Sea area, started by their allies in the east, neither has been at war for about 50 years.

In one recent game the Habsburgs had the "Let Spain inherit all of it" option in the "Habsburg Inheritance" event. This should have led to Spain gaining control over all 8 provinces of the Low Countries plus 4 provinces of Italy (Austria had conquered from Milan to Florence) in addition to the 5 provinces they already had (Sicily, Naples, and Sardinia). However:
1) The 4 provinces of the southern Netherlands had already been lost to France, the Palatinate, and an independent 2-province Flanders.
2) The 4 provinces of the northern Netherlands promptly revolted from Spanish rule and became independent.
3) A series of rebellions in Italy led to the (re)emergence of Milan, Parma, Siena, Florence, Sardinia, Naples, and Sicily.
4) This left the entire Habsburg inheritance whittled down to Franche Comte and even that province was under rebel control.
5) Aragon and Catalonia then proceeded to declare independence in Iberia itself.

I think mine would have to be when to end the Revolution, the americans invaded england and occupied anglia. Then this USA, around 1800, occupied the spanish posesssions in teh far east, along with spain itself. It took all of spain, but left the colonies intact.

I think for most people it seems to be Spain declining to colonize any portion of the New World
